Since the reform and open policy was carried out, China has made unprecedented achievements in socialist modernization. However, in the primary stage of socialism, many of its system are to be improved and there are even contradictions in the period of social transformation, especially in medical and health system reform, such as intensifying conflicts between doctors and patients, lack of trust, medical complaints, medical tangles, medical troubles and malignant injuries. Given this background, in order to demonstrate the service spirit of public hospitals, it is essential for the hospitals to seize the opportunity, accommodate to the changes and develop themselves to the full. The key issue to be addressed is to deal with the relationship between doctors and patients and minimize the contradictions between them.Based on the point, this thesis does some research on the relationship between doctors and patients in public hospitals and tries to make some suggestions on how to construct harmonious doctor-patient relationship. It is composed of five chapters. Chapter One introduces the research background and themes, research content and method and thesis structure and innovationChapter Two overviews the doctor-patient relationship theory and related research at home and abroad, explains definitions and types of doctor-patient relationship and summarizes study on the harmonious doctor-patient relationship management.Chapter Three investigates and analyzes doctor-patient relationship in H public hospital. In the first place, the writer introduces specific designs and organizations on doctor-patient relationship. Next, the writer tries to show some analysis of main factors affecting the doctor-patient relationship through investigation and description of the current situation.Chapter Four elaborates doctor-patient relationship and harmonious management strategies. Based on an analysis of status quo and causes of H public hospital, through domestic and international harmonious doctor-patient relationship management experience, the author makes some suggestions on improvement strategies from different perspective of hospitals, patients, government, and society.Chapter Five makes conclusions and expectations. The research methods applied in this paper include document investigation, questionnaire, contrast method, and interdisciplinary research method. The thesis attempts to find out the causes of disharmonious doctor-patient relationship from different angles such as the hospital, patients, the government and the society and put forward the corresponding strategy on management and improvement.Doctor-patient relationship shows tensions in recent years. Since hospitals perform as a public service and the social security system, the health of patients should be put into first consideration. Harmonious doctor-patient relationship guarantees the healthy development of medical and health undertakings in China. For hospitals, only with harmonious doctor-patient relationship will doctors’ work go on normally and provide satisfied service to patients. The construction of positive doctor-patient relationship is important, so it is of significance to do some research on harmonious management of doctor-patient relationship.
