Desmodium renifolium(Linn.) Schindl is a dwarf shrub belonging to the Desmo- dium genus of the Leguminosae family. It produced in Hainan, south of Yunnan, Tai- wan, and its range extends from India, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Malays- ia, to Indonesia and across the Pacific Islands. The Dai people of Xishuangbanna pre- fecture in Yunnan province, P.R. China use it extensively as a diuretic, nti-inflamma- tory, and detoxifying agent. Despite its uses in traditional medicine, there were no studies on the metabolites of D. renifolium has previously been presented in the literature, and there were limited study on the metal element content and antioxidant effects in the previours literature.This paper is consisted of four chapters, the first chapter is the chemical consti- tuents and biological activity research of the Desmodium genus, the second chapter determined the main biological components of the D. renifolium, the third chapter tested the cytotoxicity the 12 new compounds had been isolated, the last determined six kinds isopentyl chalcones by high performance liquid chromatography.This article mainly used a variety of purification methods to isolation and struct- ure identification of the D. renifolium. 20 compounds were separated, including 14 new compounds(1*-14*), are characteristiced by spectroscopic methods including extensive IR、MS、1D-NMR and 2D-NMR techniques. They are as follows:Oxyphyllumchalcone A(1*), Oxyphyllumchalcone B(2*), Oxyphyllumchalc- one C(3*), Oxyphyllumflavone A(4*), Oxyphyllumflavone B(5*), Renifolin B(6*), Renifolin B(7*), Renifolin C(8*), Renifolin D(9*), Renifolin E(10*), Renifolin F(11*), Renifolin G(12*), Renifolin H(13*), Renifolin I(14*), Brosimacutin G(15), Licochalcone A(16), Isobavachalcone(17), Xanthohumol(18), Isobavachromene(19), Paratocarpin B(20).In addition, this dissertation also researched the pharmacological activities of 12 new compounds in five tumor cells, NB4, A549, SHSY5 Y, PC3 and MCF7. This study shows that these compounds have potential anti-tumor activity. 2 has good cell toxicity to NB4; 7 has strong cell toxicity to A549; 8 has strong cell toxicity to NB4 and A549.Considering the importance of accurate determination of the content of the active ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine quality evaluation. We studied the extraction method with a homogenizer, determine six isopentyl chalcones from Desmodium renifolium with HPLC and provides a new method of the quantitative analysis with active ingredient.
