The Relationship Between The Carotid Artery Atherosclerosis And Plasma Homocysteine In Dali

Objective To investigate the relationship between the level of homocysteine(Hcy) and carotid artery atherosclerosis in patients.Methods In 1184 cases(638 men, 546 women) aged 60.30±12.46 years old, we measured fasting plasma total homocysteine levels and performed bilateral carotid B-mode ultrasound.Results There were significant of blood serum Hcy level in normal group,carotid atherosclerosis group,stable carotd plaque group, unstable carotd plaque group(P<0.001).There was significant deviation in Hcy level(P<0.001)between male and female patients.Conclusion There was close correlation between Hcy and the degree of carotid atherosclerosis and sex in the patients.
