Investigating The Related Risk Factors Of HIV Infection In Low-grade Female Sex Workers In The Southern Region Of Xinjiang

Objectives:(1) To learn the serum infection and risk factors of HIV, syphilis and HSV-2 in low-grade female sex workers in southern area of Xinjiang.(2) To explore the low-grade female sex workers condom use with different sex partners and the influencing factors of high-risk behaviors.(3) To learn the relevant factors of AIDS infection among different nationalities of low-grade sex workers. Methods: On February to June in 2014,the sites Kuqa, Toksu and Kashgarwere selected for this study where heterosexual transmission of the AIDS epidemic had a rapid increase. Survey sites are all entertainment venues with small scale and low grade in local areas. All potential participants who meet the criteria within the survey sites were investigated. After completing the questionnaire, 5ml of venous blood was collected and sent to the laboratory for HIV, syphilis and HSV-2antibodies detection as soon as possible. A Database was established by using EpiData 3.1and the data entries were double-checked and logically verified to ensure maximum accuracy. The SPSS17.0 statistical software was used for statistical data analysis. Results:(1) In this survey, low-grade female sex workers the positive rate of HIV was 1.7%, the positive rate of syphilis was 11.1 %, the positive rate of HSV-2 was 31.1 %; Ethnic minorities was the risk factor of syphilis infection for low-grade female sex workers; The han nationality, participants older than 30 years of age, Syphilis positive infection is the risk factor for low-grade female sex workers HSV-2 infection.(2) This recent month, the100% condom utilization rates of subjects with normal guests are higher than the regular and the fixed sexual partner. Ethnic minorities, had first commercial sex were younger, the average monthly income is lower, gest number is less, providing services for the whole night, drinking before providing sexual services, the guests who does not feel comfortableusing condoms were make low-grade female sex workers easier to have unprotected sex with client.(3) AIDS related factors analysis between different ethnic groups: ethnic minorities HIV and syphilis infection rate is higher than the Han; in the aspect of unsafe sex etc, Such as condom use, drinking before providing sexual services, providing services for the whole night etc, ethnic minorities femal sex workers risk is higher. Conclusion:The infection rate of HIV/STDs among low-grade female sex workers is high; Female sex workers in sex high-risk sexual behavior, condom utilization rate is low, In the future should be combined with regional, cultural, ethnic characteristics, positive and effective measures should be taken to reduce high-risk behaviors of low-grade female sex workers and to control the spread of the HIV/STDs in this group, thus prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV infection in China.
