Background Infant mixed hemangioma is a common hemangioma. Compared with other types, its harm is greater, the treatment is more difficult and has more serious complications. What’s more, this disease can lead to patients destroying damage, body function disorder, and even endanger the patients life. In clinical, vascular tumors was often treated by operation excision, sclerosing agent injection, freeze, radiation, laser and oral hormone and other methods. But every method has its limitations and many complications. And deep hemangioma treatment effect is not ideal for mixed type. Since 2008, lauromacrogol as a new method for the treatment of hemangioma has been applied in clinical and has obtained the certain effect, while its effectiveness and safety still need further research. Objective To observe the efficiency and safety of using lauromacrogol sclerosing foam treating infants with mixed hemangioma (hemangioma and venous malformation) disease through clinical treatment.Method Samples from different stages were collected and screened. Since 2012, cases treated by lauromacrogol were adopted in our department according to the criteria:ages ranging from 3 months to 6 years for initial registration. Then, the treatment effect and side effects were observed, and timely communication with the family members of patients was did. Finally, the security and effectiveness of lauromacrogol was evaluated and analysed through comparing the changes of affected area before and after the treatment and statistical analysis. Results Through recording and following the eligible patients’treatment condition, most children with mixed type hemangioma need 1-4 times lauromacrogol injection. All cases were followed up successfully and the longest time is 1 year while the shortest is two months, the average time is 7 months. Among them,28 patients were cured,36 cases were markedly effective,22 cases improved and 0 case was ineffective. In the course of treatment, some patients appeared local swelling and skin temperature rising after injection 1% lauromacrogol, while some patients had mild numbness. But without special treatment, swelling and numbness would disappear after 1-3 days. What’s more, there is no skin ulceration, necrosis, scar formation and systemic adverse reactions. Besides, there is no effect for the normal life and daily nursing care after treatment. Conclusion Our research shows that the lauromacrogol injection, as a method for the treatment of the mixed hemangioma, has better treatment effect for some special parts and mixed hemangioma which is difficult to resection or cannot be completely resected. This method can avoid excessive medical treatment and damage for patients and families due to not timely cure. And this method has obtained good effect in the treatment of children body surface mixed hemangioma and is worthy of further application.
