ObjectiveTo observe toxicity of Molybdenum on liver and its mechanisms in mice.MethodsA total of 50 male Kunming mice according to the median lethal dose of sodium molybdate were randomly divided into 5 groups, each group contained 10 mice : the control group( physiological saline),3.440mg/kg( 1/100 LD50),6.880mg/kg(1/50 LD50),34.400mg/kg(1/10 LD50),68.800mg/kg(1/5 LD50). All mice were exposured with intraperitoneal injection, the exposure last for 30 consecutive days. After the exposure was finished, the content of AST,ALT,LDH, SOD,GSH-Px,MDA were test and examing the pathological changes of liver in mice under the light microscope.Results1 After exposure, the weight of mice were increased, the control grou p increased most obviously.Compared with the control group, only 34.400mg/kg,68.800mg/kg group body weight difference were statistically significa nt2 Each group of mice liver molybdenum content was higher, and 34.400 mg/kg、 68.800 mg/kg groups difference are statistically significant compared with the control group.3 After exposure, only 68.800mg/kg group serum AST and LDH and 34.400mg/kg,68.800mg/kg group serum ALT are statistically significant compared with the control group.4 The dosage of sodium molybdate infected mice liver homogenate SOD activity decreased, the difference of the 6.880, 34.400, 68.800 mg/kg groups were statistically significant. Meanwhlie, the GSH-PX decreased and the MDA increased, 34.400 and 68.800 mg/kg group were statistically significant.5 After the canister, the liver cell structure of 68.800 mg/kg sodium molybdate infected group is not complete, the line is not clear, form and size are differ, liver cell vacuoles degeneration, inflammatory cell infiltration, disorganized liver and dot necrosis, central vein stenosis.ConclusionsMolybdenum has certain accumulation effect in mice liver and high doses of molybdenum can damage liver.
