Abstract/Summary:
Objective:To investigate the epidemiological feature of rotavirus and adenovirus infection in children with diarrhea disease in Urumqi area in recent one year and provide the basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment. Methods:To collect stool samples and clinical data of children with diarrhea in pediatric of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region people’s Hospital from 2013 March to 2014 February, using colloidal gold method to detect the fecal rotavirus, adenovirus antigen, then to analyze the epidemic status of rotavirus, adenovirus and the clinical features diarrhea that lead to. Results: There were 451 patients with diarrhea, the positive rate of rotavirus antigen was 31.3%(141/451), and that of adenovirus antigen was 4.7%(21/451), The co-infection rate of both the two virus was 0.7%(3/451). Rotavirus infection was regardless of gender, nation; the diarrhea rotavirus detection rate under 3 years old children was significantly higher than over 3 years old children with diarrhea, rotavirus diarrhea in children under 3 years old accounted for 98.6%(139/141); Rotavirus infection in pathogenesis of the year, its peak was from August to November, There was no significantly in the detection rate of rotavirus between children with or without heat, symptoms of dehydration, with the different times daily diarrhea, there was no significantly different in the rotavirus detection rate, the detection rate of watery stools of rotavirus was higher than mushy stool, there was a higher detection rate of rotavirus in diarrhea within 7 days, children with rotavirus infection were more prone to vomiting. Adenovirus Detection rate was unrelated to gender the adenovirus detection rate in Uighur children was higher than Han children, all children with detectable adenovirus diarrhea were within 3 years old, but adenovirus infection showed no obvious occurrence regularity, there was no significantly difference in adenovirus detection rate whether children with fever, vomiting, dehydration symptoms, and between different days of diarrhea in children, all children with adenovirus infection are concentrated in the 3 to 10 times in the daily number of bowel movements. The antibiotic use rate of virus positive hospitalized children was 33.6%(35/104), of which 7.6%(8/104) cases without application of antibiotic indication. Conclusion:Rotavirus and adenovirus infection play an important status in children with diarrhea disease in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region people’s Hospital between 2014 February to 2013 March, it occurred mainly in infants, The peak of rotavirus infection is from August to November every year, Individual patients showed rotavirus and adenovirus joint-infection. The main clinical viral diarrhea in children hospitalized manifested as diarrhea with fever, mild dehydration. Antibiotic abuse is still grim. We suggested the Government promote the rotavirus vaccination in Xinjiang to prevent rotavirus diarrhea.
