ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to offer an objective foundation for effectively controlling the incidence of rotavirus diarrhea in the future through describing the clinical epidemiological characteristics and distribution rules of TCM patterns of rotavirus diarrhea.MethodsUsing methods retrospective study, we gathered cases about the diarrhea infants within 5 years old in the affiliated hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Traditional Medicine between Jan.2011 to Dec.2015. The information of clinical presentation and personal data of each patient was recorded. All the datas were analyzed by SPSS22.0.Results1. Characteristics of the onset:Most of children with HRV diarrhea aged 6 to 24 months old, more common in boys, the ratio of boys and girls is 1.78:1. Morbidity of rotavirus diarrhea is high in October to January of the following year. It is more from community-acquired, but the proportion of nosocomial infection is 19.5%. The most common first onset symptoms is fever(47.5%). And 81.4% infected children get fever throughtout the course of the disease.2. TCM syndrome patterns:The damp-heat pattern is the main type of all types, accounted for 66.5%, at the same time,16.1 percent is wind-heat pattern. Fever as the initiatory symptom mostly belongs to the damp-heat pattern.3. The use of antibiotics:The selected cases have high ratio of the antibiotic use, reached 40.7%. Wind-heat pattern takes a higher proportion.4. Extra-intestinal manifestations:The incidence of extra intestinal damage includes slight dehydration(58.9%),moderate dehydration(8.5%); mild acidosis(32.2%), moderate acidosis(13.1%); electrolyte disorder(53.8%); CK-MB elevation(80.5%); respiratory system disorders (51.3%); nerve system involvement(8.9%), mostly febrile convulsions and only one case of toxic encephalopathy.ConclusionThe infant HRV diarrhea has a very significant time and age of onset. The damp-heat pattern is the most common syndrome, wind-heat pattern in the second. It is easy to merge various systems disease, so we should take effective measure to prevent the occurrence of severe.
