The Relationship Between Cyber Bullying And Sleep Disorder Among The Students Of Three High Vocational Colleges In Anhui Province

Objective: To examine whether cyber bullying are associated with sleep disorder and to discover the Influence Factors of the sleeping behavior in vocational students, through this research it would provide theoretical foundation for improving the sleeping quality of vocational students.Methods: 4,147 vocational students are selected from three vocational colleges in Anhui province to be the objects of this study by Convenience Sampling. The students are asked to finish the Adolescent Health Behavior Questionnaire, the cyber bullying questionnaires which are used to evaluate the cyber bullying behavior and the Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI) scales which are used to evaluate the sleep quality.Results: A total of 4,147 effective questionnaires are completed from 4,261 students, there are statistical differences between different profession in sleep quality among the vocational students. The students who major in medicine have higher ratio of sleep disorder than other students. The female students have higher ratio of sleep disorder than male students. In the survey of cyber bullying students from university have higher frequency of cyber bullying than students from the medical school and engineering school(P<0.05). The male students have higher ratio of verbal cyber bullying than female students(P<0.001), but there are no differences in non-verbal cyber bullying between them. Moreover the self-report family economic status, the relationshipbetween students and their parents and the self-report stress of study affect the frequency of cyber bullying. The results show that there are significant differences between students who suffer different frequency of verbal and non-verbal bullying in sleep quality, sleep efficiency, sleep disorder and daytime function(P<0.01).Conclusions: Sleep disorder is very common in vocational colleges, there is no relationship between cyber bullying and sleep disorder. Self-rating family economic condition and self-rating academic performance are risk factors of sleep disorder. The vocational students who major in medicine and pharmacy, are bad at academic performance and who are with poor family economic condition should be the focus of intervention.
