Background:Recent years, demand of blood in the clinical was much higher than the amount of blood donor, which led to the situation of blood shortage in various regions. College students were the main force of blood donor. Understanding the situation of blood donor of college students, blood donation awareness and blood donation willingness could affect the amount of blood donor in China. Along with the development of related research on blood donor, some researches have investigated the situation of blood donor among college students, however, little researches was focused on college students in Bengbu city. Due to the difference of blood donation awareness and propaganda work among regions, the situations and influence factors were also different. Based on this, it is necessary to investigate the situation of blood donor among college students in Bengbu city.Objectives:The students from four colleges were investigated on blood donation situation, awareness of policy and related knowledge and blood donation willingness, and further discuss related factors on behavior, awareness and willingness of blood donor.Methods:A multi-stage cluster sampling was conducted to investigate the students from four colleges on blood donor. The general population information, situation of blood donor, willingness of blood donor and policy and related knowledge of blood donor were collected. Stratified the basis characteristics, the willingness rate of blood donation and knowledge degree of policy and related knowledge were analyzed. The influence factors of blood donation behavior among college students were analyzed based on t-test and chi-square test. The influence factors of blood donation awareness among college students were analyzed based on t-test and ANOVA. The influence factors of blood donation willingness among college students were analyzed based on t-test and chi-square test. Multiple linear regression and Logistic regression analysis were established.Main Results:1200 questionnaires were delivered to college students, and 1132 were returned, with the effective returning rate of 94.33%.341 had donated their blood without compensation, with the donation rate of 30.12%. The donation rate of boy students was higher than that of female students. The donation rate of students from urban areas was higher than that of students from rural areas. The donation rate of medical college students was higher than that of other college students. Multiple logistic regression suggested that boy students, medical college students, higher awareness of blood donor, family participated in blood donation and students supporting the family and friends to participate in blood donation had higher donation rate.Awareness rate of blood donor among college students was 57.03%. Univariate analysis revealed that gender, area, school, donation times and background of donation were the influence factors of related knowledge awareness of blood donation. Besides, gender, area, donation times and grade were the influence factors of policy awareness of blood donation. Multiple linear regression showed donation times, medical college, family participating in blood donation had better cognitive of related knowledge. Besides, boy students and higher grade students had better cognitive of policy.The willingness rate of blood donor among college students was 62.90%. The willingness rate of urban area was higher than that of rural area; lower grade was higher than higher grade. Higher scores of related knowledge and policy of blood donation was higher than lower score. The willingness rate of students with family participating in blood donation was higher than that of students without family participating in blood donation. Multiple logistic regression showed that higher scores of blood donation awareness, family participating in blood donation were the influence factors of blood donation willingness.Conclusions and suggestions:The blood donation rate among college students in Bengbu city was 30.12%. The influence factors of blood donation behavior were gender, medical college, awareness of blood donation and effects from family. The motives of blood donation among college students were pure, mainly for compassion, social responsibility and enjoying preferential blood. Awareness rate of blood donor among college students was 57.03%. Donation times, medical college and family participating in blood donation were the influence factors of awareness of related knowledge. Boy students and higher grade students had better cognitive of policy. The willingness rate of blood donor among college students was 62.90%. Awareness of blood donation and effects from family were the influence factors of blood donation willingness. Done work of blood donation well is of great significance to the development of the blood donation in China. Therefore, it is recommended to the propaganda of blood donation, strengthen health education, and guide to improve the awareness of blood donation and eliminate risk factors existing in the process of blood donation.
