Cerebral palsy (Cerebral pasly, CP) refers to the baby from before birth to one month or less after birth due to various reasons cause of non-progressive brain damage syndrome, mainly for the central movement disorders and abnormal posture, while often accompanied by mental retardation, language disorders, epilepsy and other symptoms, In a family, once children were diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the family will suffer a huge blow. Whether children or parents, will face a lot of pressure. Rehabilitation of children is not only difficult. And their social interaction and psychological behavior will be negatively affected. Parents can not rely on their own strength to address the plight of economic, spiritual and other aspects. They are in urgent need of outside support. Social work is a professional activity to help others. It stressed that the therapy should be under the guidance of professional values, with professional knowledge, skills and methods to help needy disadvantaged rescue distress, ease difficulties and promote its development.During the internship in Anhui Provincial Children’s Hospital, I join the voluntarily rainbow Anhui University social work team with another eight Social and Political Science graduate student in social work. We conducted a survey on provincial children with cerebral palsy, parents and relevant staff at Children’s Hospital rehabilitation Department through the questionnaire, depth interview, participant observation on the effectiveness of rehabilitation treatment of children with cerebral palsy, the plight of children with cerebral palsy and their families, which have a more in-depth understanding.Anhui Provincial Children’s Hospital summarize a set of their own treatment programs in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy research and. They mainly provide physical function and linguistic training for children with cerebral palsy through a combination of Chinese and Western medicine treatment of children with cerebral palsy. On the one hand they use scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture point injection and other methods of Chinese medicine treatment. On another hand with the introduction of foreign advanced technology and equipment for the treatment, they finally to get the children’s condition improved. But in the process of treatment and rehabilitation in children with cerebral palsy and their families will face a variety of problems. Through the survey we found that psychological adjustment problems facing children with cerebral palsy, interpersonal difficulties, rehabilitation and medical difficulties and difficulties in access to education; parents of children with mental stress is also facing economic pressures and the need for specialized knowledge, skills rehabilitation. To help alleviate the needs of children and parents and meet their needs through a series of social group activities we put the focus on social work intervention. In addition, we also made recommendations for children with cerebral palsy to build social support networks accordingly, enabling multi-channel, multi-channel to address social needs of children and parents, to better improve the social support system of children with cerebral palsy to help restore basic living function, to better integrate into society, to achieve self-worth.
