ObjectiveThe analysis of the incidence rate of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and the constitution type of PMS, along with the relation between PMS, severity extent and the constitutional tendency were the keys of this study, which were performed by the questionnaire survey among HongKong women,, Further research aims for effective measures for PMS prevention.Methods1)The 1:1 randomize case control study was conducted.2)The investigation was conducted from July,2014 to March,2015.concluded women from Pui Yuen Tong clinic, courses held by Sha-tin women’s association and Li ka Shing Institute of Professional and Continuing Education by "General condition questionnaire".3)In the screening process,42 PMS patients were selected by the evaluation of "PMS questionnaire" and "General condition questionnaire".4)42 PMS patients were graded according to "PMS symptomatic marking chart".5)The study of the incidence and constitutional tendency of PMC were based on "Chinese constitutional questionnaire" and analyzed by SPSS using statistic method including chi-square test and linear regression analysis.Results1.The incidence t rate of PMS in this survey is about 28.9%, which is closed to 30-40% incidence that was reported in the previous research.2. The slight and middle grade of severity extent are common in this survey.16.7% of the PMS patients in the survey are severe grade, which may related to the working pressure and living condition in HongKong.3. In this survey, the occurrence of PMS is related to constitution, though having no significant relevance to height, weight and the frequency of body-exercise.4. In this survey, physical and psychological changes are observed in PMS patients. The distending pain of lower abdomen, fatigue, mammary swelling pain, headache, irascibility are the most common physical symptom of PMS. Psychological symptom included loss focus and passion.5. PMS patients have high tendency to be qi deficiency and phlegm dampness constitution. Women with normal constitution, damp-heat or special constitution are less likely to have PMS.6. In the PMS group, the constitution type is the combination between qi deficiency constitution and 7 other constitutions.7. The constitution type have certain effect on the severity extent of PMS. The slight and middle grade of severity extent are commonly seen in women with normal constitution, while middle and severe grade are commonly seen in other constitution type.Conclusion1.The incidence t rate of PMS in this survey is about 28.9%, which is closed to 30-40% incidence that was reported in the previous research. On epidemiology aspect, we should pay highly attention to the prevention and treatment of PMS.2. PMS is highly relevant to constitution, thus having no significant relevance to height, weight and the frequency of body-exercise.3. The distending pain of lower abdomen, fatigue, mammary swelling pain, headache, irascibility are the most common physical symptom of PMS. In TCM theory, PMS is related to physiological dysfunction of liver, which should treat with soothing liver and regulating qi and relieving qi depression.4. PMS patients have constitutional tendency. According to the survey, qi deficiency and the phlegm dampness constitution type are more likely to have PMS, which contrary to women with normal constitution, damp-heat or special constitution.5. The constitution type have certain effect on the severity extent of PMS.
