ObjectiveThe main purpose of this study was to use eight methods of Intelligent Turtle combining with syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection for the treating insomnia. Get the objective evaluation thought the comparison between the eight methods of Intelligent Turtle combining with syndrome-differentiation-base acupuncture group and the syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection group, which provided evidence for the treating of insomnia with eight methods of Intelligent Turtle combined with syndrome-differentiation-base acupuncture. Further more, it offered theoretical basis to a more simple, effect-lasting and effective acupuncture treatment method for insomnia.MethodsChoose 60 patients accorded with the inclusion criteria and diagnosis criteria of insomnia and randomly assigned them to the eight methods of Intelligent Turtle combining with syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection group (treatment group) and the syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection group (control group),30 cases were included in each group. The treatment group choose acupoints according to the period of the day from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. when the patient came to visit, according to the "eight methods of Intelligent Turtle Circumferential disc" (Chart 1) and the computational formula of the eight methods of Intelligent Turtle, calculates what acupoints open, (choosing both bilateral), and combined with syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection treatment. The control group choose acupoints base on syndrome-differentiation-base. Two groups were treated for 2 treatment course, each treatment course last 2 weeks,3 times a week. Pre-treatment and post-treatment clinical efficacy were compared thought the change of PSQI score and four index which include sleep quality, time of falling sleep, hour of sleep and sleep efficiency.Results1. Effective rate in treatment group was 93.33% and 76.67% in the control group. The treatment group was significantly better than the control group (P<0.05) in the clinical efficacy, suggesting that the two groups had significant difference.2. The treatment group achieved highly significant differences in sleep quality, time of falling sleep, sleep efficiency and PSQI score (P<0.001), and significant differences in hour of sleep (P<0.05). The control group achieved highly significant differences in sleep quality and PSQI score (P<0.001), and significant differences in hour of sleep and sleep efficiency. It showed that the treatment group was better than the control group in time of falling sleep and sleep efficiency.3. There was a significant difference (P<0.05) in the gap between the treatment group and the control group, showing that the treatment group was significantly better than the control group.ConelusionThe clinical indexes showed that the efficacy of eight methods of Intelligent Turtle combining with syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection for treating insomnia was significantly higher than syndrome-differentiation-base acupoint selection. This method had the advances such as simple operation, obvious effect, side-effects free and high cure rate, and was suitable for wide popularization and application of the clinic.
