| ObjectiveColon cancer is one of the most common digestive system neoplastic disease. It was always diagnosed at advanced stage in China. Comprehensive treatment based on radical operation is the most important method in treating colon cancer and postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy also has become an essential component, especially for stage II (with high-risk features) and stage III which are confirmed by pathologies after surgery. It can prolong the five-years survival rate. However, some patients were forced to stop the chemotherapy because of the side effects caused by chemotherapy that can not tolerate or because of the hypof unction of body and can not attain the effective treatment purposes. What Western medicine can do is to treat according to symptom. The traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the treatment of colon cancer , especially when the traditional Chinese and Western medicine are combined in treating the advanced stage patients, unique advantages are shown in prolonging the total survival rate and reducing the side effects of chemotherapy. According to the clinical observation, patients receiving chemotherapy were always PiXuShiYun. Jianpi Shenshi Yiliu Therapy is gastrointestinal surgery experience for patients receiving chemotherapy after colon cancer surgery in Guangdong Provincial Chinese medicine hospital and play a very important role in improving the quality of life in colon cancer patients.PurposeTo compare the clinic effect of Jianpi Shenshi Yiliu Therapy combination with XELOX chemotherapy (Oxali-platin+Capecitabine) with chemotheray with the same scheme only to treat patients after colon cancer surgery by detecting the difference of blood routine、renal function、liver function、blood coagulation、tumor marker、KPS scores、quality of life scores (QOL)、 toxicity after chemotherapy to evaluate the clinic effect of Jianpi Shenshi Yiliu Therapy. This will provide reference for the better Chinese medicine treatment which can reduce the side effects and improve the patients quality of life.MethodsHere we choose 60 patients after colon cancer surgery and randomly divide them into the trail group(Chinese medicine combination chemotherapy) and control group (purely chemotherapy), each group with 30 cases.The trail group was treated with Jianpi Shenshi Yiliu Therapy combined with XELOX chemotherapy , the control group was treated with chemotheray only,4 consecutive cycles, each cycle 21 days. Detect the difference of blood routine (WBC、RBC、Hb、 PLT)、renal function (Urea、Cr)、liver function (ALT、AST、TP、ALB、TBIL) 、blood coagulation (PT、FIB、APTT)、tumor marker (CEA、AFP、CA199)、KPS scores 、quality of life scores (QOL)、toxicity after chemotherapy between two group.ResultsThe quality of life scores of the trail group were(50.76±1.22) before treatment, and(57.37±0.72)after treatment, P<0.01, KPS scores were (85±5.09) before treatment, and (88.67±3.46)after treatment, P<0.01. The quality of life scores of the control group were (50.7±0.92) before treatment, and (56.67±0.71) after treatment, P<0.01, KPS scores were (85.67±5.04) before treatment, and (87±4.66) after treatment, P<0.01. There was statistic signifi-cance in the difference of quality of life scores and KPS scores of the trail group and control group before and after the treatment. This shows that the trail group and control group are able to improve the patients’living quality. There also statistic sense in the quality of life scores and KPS scores of the trail group and control group after the treatment (P<0.05), which indicated that the use of Chinese medicine in chemotherapy will preferably improve the life quality in colon cancer patients. The Hb of the trail group were(108.6±19.24)g/L before treatment, and(117.33±19.57) g/L after treat-ment, P<0.01. There was statistic difference in this two. While the Hb of control group were (115±19.15) g/L before treatment, and (118.83±12.34) g/L after treatment, P>0.05. There was no statistic difference between this two. The situation of the lack of statistic difference before treatment in two group(P>0.05), but got statistic difference after treatment in two group( P<0.05).This indicated that the trail group can improve the Hb compared to the control group. After observing bone marrow suppression and liver damage mainly, it indicated that the incidence of bone marrow suppression in the trail group were lower than the control group(P=0.044). During the rest other index comprasion, they showed no statistic difference between the trail and control group (P>0.05).ConclusionJianpi Shenshi Yiliu Therapy combination with XELOX chemotherapy(0x-aliplatin+Capecitabine) to treat patients after colon cancer surgery can improve the quality of life better, improve the hemoglobin level in blood and reduce the side effects of chemotherapy which worth clinical promotion. |
