Objective:To Investigate the anxiety and depression condition of postpartum women with neonate in NICU and its relationship with emotion regulation types. Methods:This was a cross-sectional study, conducted on 129 postpartum women with neonate in NICU. Measures included a self-reported demographic questionnaire, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ). Statistic analysis methods included statistic description,t-test, oneway ANOVA, correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis.Results:1. The incidence of anxiety and depression of postpartum women with neonate in NICU is 30.71% and 24.41%, respectively.2. The scores in the ERQ Suppression and Reappraisal scale did not differ significantly between positive anxiety group and negative anxiety group (P>.05) People with high levels of depression exhibited higher Suppression scores than did those without depression. However, no significant differences were found in Reappraisal scale between positive anxiety group and negative anxiety group.3. The total score on the ERQ Suppression scale showed significant positive correlations with anxiety, depression, and the HADS total score (P<.05); ERQ Reappraisal scale did not correlate with any of the dimensions of ERQ.4. Hierarchical regression analysis shows that, rather than anxiety, Suppression and Reappraisal were predictors of depression. The ERQ Suppression and Reappraisal scores explained 21.4% of the depression variance (P<.001).Conclusions:(1) Anxiety and depression is prominent in the postpartum women with neonate in NICU, which is negatively associated with the health status of neonate;(2) Anxiety and depression in the postpartum women is associated with ERQ Suppression;(3) ERQ Reappraisal negatively predicted depression in the postpartum women; ERQ Suppression positively predicted depression in the postpartum women.
