This study analyzes breast cancer diagnose through combined application of ultrasound and mammography, exclusive use of ultrasound and mammography and connecting with pathological staging research, to improve the preoperative diagnosis rate of breast cancer through their joint application. Material and Methods Choosing 275 hospitalized medical records from our hospital during Jan. 2010 to Dec.2012, eliminating the case undertake imaging study in other hospital and perform the operation in out hospital. Those proved to be a second surgery through lumpectomy pathological research in other hospital or outpatient are also be excluded. 195 out of 275 cases are effective cases, those cases are all undertake imaging study in out hospital and proved to be breast cancer after operation. This study analyzes these 195 cases retrospectively, comparing the diagnose accordance rate between mammography, ultrasound and combination of both modalities. Results 195 cases undertake ultrasound or mammography inspection before operation, including 66 ultrasound-only inspection, 80 mammography-only inspection and 49 combined inspection. Taking pathological research as diagnostical golden standard, combined inspection diagnose accordance rate is 97.76%, mammography diagnose accordance rate is 84.85%, ultrasound diagnose accordance rate is 85.00%. Combined inspection diagnose accordance rate is higher than ultrasound-only inspection or mammography-only inspection and the difference are statistically significant(p<0.05), meanwhile, ultrasound-only and mammography-only inspection have no obvious difference. Conclusion Taking pathological research as diagnostical golden standard, ultrasound-only and mammography-only inspection accordance rate have no obvious difference, however, combination of both modalities inspection accordance rate is obviously higher than two individual inspection. These two inspections each has its advantages, reflecting breast from different level, at the same time, combination inspection covers the shortage of individual inspection and has considerate advantage in preoperative inspection.
