Objective:By comparing the curative effect of patients with intertrochanteric fracture with risky external wall and damaged external wall treated by gamma-III standard interlocking intramedullary nail(Gamma-3),to research the relationship between the integrity of the lateral femoral wall and the curative effect of unstable fracture. Methods:From January 2013 to July 2014,56 patients with intertrochanteric fracture treated by Gamma-III were divided into two groups according to the type of fracture. There were 38 cases with risky external wall, including 20 males and 18 females with an average age of 70.7±1.3(ranged,32 to 91) years old;while 18 cases with damaged external wall, including 11 males and 7 females with an average age of 70.3±1.3(ranged,40 to 85) years old.Blood loss, operation time and Harris score after 6 months’ following up were observed and compared. Results:All patients were followed up for 6 to 12(means 10.6) months, and all patients were obtained fracture healing, and recovered walking ability as before injury. There were no significant differences in blood loss, operation time(P>0.05),but Harris score after 6 months’following up was different(P<0.05).Conclusion:Gamma-3 in treating patients with unstable intertrochanteric fracture can receive good curative effect, there is a significant relationship between the integrity of the lateral femoral wall and the curative effect of unstable fracture.
