Objective:(1) To examine the reliability and validity of the Self-report for the Assessment of Adjustment Disorders (SAAD); (2) To investigate the prevalence and influence factor of Adjustment Disorder (AD) in Chinese recruits.Methods:(1) In 2013,2000 recruits were assessed with Self-report for the Assessment of Adjustment Disorders (SAAD), Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R), Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) by cluster random sampling.119 recruits were assessed again with SAAD after two weeks. (2) In 2014, other 2000 recruits were assessed with revised SAAD, Positive Mental Characters Scale for Recruits (PMCS-R) and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire (TCSQ).Results:(1) Based on item analysis of data collected in 2013, one item of SAAD was removed. (2) Confirmatory factor analysis was running, fitting index as follows:x2/df=4.274, CFI=0.849, TFI=0.835, IFI=0.850, GFI=839, AGFI=0.810, RMSEA=0.072. The intra-class correlation coefficients of the 6 factors ranged from 0.633-0.762 (Ps< 0.001). There was significant positive correlation among IES-R, SAS, SDS and SAAD (r=0.791,0.616,0.523, Ps< 0.001). (3) The Cronbach’s a coefficient of the SAAD was 0.942; The a of 6 factors were among 0.674-0.800. The mean inter-item correlation coefficient of the SAAD was 0.385; The inter-class correlation coefficients of 6 factors ranged from 0.339±0.531 (Ps<0.001). Test-retest reliability of the SAAD was 0.640; Test-retest reliability of 6 factors ranged from 0.461 ~ 0.611 (Ps< 0.001). (4) Revised SAAD was used to investigate other 2000 recruits in 2014. The total average score of SAAD was 1.59±0.51, the score of older age, higher education, only child, urban population, and parents’bad marriage was significant higher than its reverse side (Ps< 0.05).43 recruits (2.2%) meet the symptom criterion of AD. Logistic analysis shows that urban population and parents’bad marriage were the main risk factors for AD symptoms. (5) There were significant negative correlations in the total score between SAAD and its 6 factors and PMCS-R and its 6 factors (r=-0.123~-0.313, Ps<0.001), and positive coping (r=-0.184~-0.282, Ps< 0.001); There were significant positive correlations in the total score between SAAD and its 6 factors and negative coping (r=0.476~0.591, Ps<0.001). Path analysis results show positive mental characters affect AD symptoms through coping style.Conclusion:(1) The revised SAAD was of good reliability and validity in Chinese recruits; (2) Urban population and parents’bad marriage were the main risk factors for AD symptoms; (3) Positive mental characters affect AD symptoms through coping style.
