Purpose(1)To translate the English version of the Modified PTSD Symptom Scale-Self Report(MPSS-SR)into Chinese and to test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of MPSS-SR in traffic accident patients(2)The Chinese version of MPSS-SR scale was initially applied in clinical practice to investigate the level of post-traumatic stress disorder and its influencing factors in patients with traffic accident injuryMethod(1)A methodological to introduced the English version of the MPSS-SR comprising the following phases:authorization for translation from original author,translation,back-translation and cross-cultural adaptation of an expert committee, followed by a pre-test Road traffic accident patients were investigated using Socio Demographic Questionnaire, the Chinese Version of the MPSS-SR and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-Civilian.The item analysis was used to screen items. The content validity, construct validity and criterion validity were applied to test the validity.Internal consistency reliability,split-half reliability, and test-retest reliability were used to assess reliability(2)The Chinese version of MPSS-SR scale was initially applied in clinic, and the Socio-demographic Questionnaire, the Chinese Version of the MPSS-SR,Social Support Rating Scale,Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire and Defense Style Questionnaire were used to investigate the status quo of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with traffic accidents, and the influencing factors was analyzedResults(1)Item analysis showed that the Chinese version of MPSS-SR could discriminate the high score group and the low group(P<0.001).The correlation coefficient between frequency and severity scores of each item and the total score was 0.516-0.746,0.558-0.715 respectively(P<0.01).The Cronbach's a coefficient of the total frequency is 0.934,and the total severity is 0.927;The half-reliability of the total frequency is 0.847,and the total severity is 0.864;The test-retest interclass correlation of total scale frequency is 0.927,and the total severity is 0.946;The criterion validity of total scale is 0.689(P<0.01).The Cronbach's a coefficient of each dimension is above 0.800;The half-reliability is also above 0.700;The test-retest interclass correlation is above 0.800 and the criterion validity is above 0.600.From exploratory factor analysis, three factors were generated with an accumulated variance contribution of 67.374 and 69.976.The item content validity index ranged from 0.800-1.000,the scale content validity indices was 0.976(2)This study found that the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with traffic accidents is 29.49%.There are many influencing factors of post-traumatic stress disorder, among which gender and average monthly income may be the influencing factors The total score and each dimension score of the Chinese version of MPSS-SR were correlated with each dimension of coping style. The results showed that the total score,reexperience,avoidance/numbing and arousal were positively correlated with the score of negative coping, and negatively correlated with the score of positive coping style. The results of correlation analysis with each dimension of defense style showed that the total score,reexperience,avoidance/numbing and arousal were positively correlated with immature, intermediate and cover-up scores, and was negatively correlated with mature. The dimensions of Chinese version MPSS-SR and each dimension of social support were negatively correlatedConclusions(1)In this study, the Chinese version of MPSS-SR scale has high reliability and validity The Chinese version of MPSS-SR can be used as an evaluation tool to evaluate the level of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with traffic accidents, and provide a theoretical basis for the study of post-traumatic stress disorder in patients with traffic accidents(2)This study shows that the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder in traffic accident patients is 29.49%.Nurses should pay attention to the issue of post-traumatic stress disorder of traffic accident patients, especially focus on female patients with lower income, guiding them to enhance social support, adopt positive coping strategies and mature defense style.Oriented by influencing factors, proper intervention should be provided to lower the prevalence of post-traumatic stress disorder, and promote psychosomatic rehabilitation and improve quality of life.
