Investigation On Satisfaction And Influencing Factors For Inpatients Of Third-class Comprehensive Hospitals In Anhui Province

Background:With the further national health care reform, competitive pressures faced by all level medical institutions are growing. Patient satisfaction, as an important indicator of the level of medical services, can assess the level of quality of medical services, in order to understand the service needs of patients.Objective:In this study, taking for example the third-class comprehensive hospital in Anhui Province, through in-depth Investigation of hospitalized patient satisfaction by using relevant statistical methods, we analyzed the status quo of Anhui hospitalized patient satisfaction, and deep-rooted relations among inpatients ranging from medical facilities, logistics services, medical technology, service attitude, doctor-patient communication, privacy, medical ethics, medical expenses and treatment effects. We hope it would provide empirical evidence for the relevant decision-makers and personnel to carry out specific work to improve patient satisfaction.Methods:By retrieving the large number of documents of inpatient satisfaction at home and abroad, we grasped the status quo in public hospital inpatients satisfaction, problems and research progress, and prepared questionnaire referring to domestic-related health care reform plan. In Anhui Province, we had a random sample of three third-class comprehensive hospitals, where we issued a total of 810 questionnaires within each hospital, including medical and surgical ward 160 parts, gynecology ward 60 parts, pediatric ward 50 parts. After finishing dealing with the questionnaires, we input data by using epidata 3.0 twice, then using SPSS 13.0 statistical software for analysis.Results:1.There are differences mainly in medical facilities and logistics services in three hospital inpatients satisfaction(F=3.615,p=0.027;F=14.928,p<0.001).2.Age and occupation were the main impact factors of inpatients satisfaction of the demographic characteristics(p=0.021,OR=1.419;p=0.019,OR=0.231).3.Medical technology, medical ethics, medical expenses and treatment were the main factors affecting the inpatients satisfaction(p=0.001,OR=1.491;p=0.026,OR=1.446;p=0.003,OR=1.292;p<0.001,OR=2.957).Conclusions and suggestions:By studying for inpatients satisfaction of Anhui Third-class integrated public hospital, we found that there were still weaknesses. In order to improve inpatients’ satisfaction, we need to improve the level of medical technology, strengthen ethics and transparently reduce medical costs through reform. At the same time, we also should invest more on hospital facilities, offer personalized logistics services, and strengthen the doctor-patient communication in order to build trust way,which can provide more convenient healthcare experience for inpatients.
