Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has had a long history for thousands of years,left us with tens of thousands of prescriptions and the vast literature of TCM, which is avaluable resource for human health and wealth. At the same time, how to effectivelyintegrate and use these resources, and to explore the rules of Traditional ChinesePrescription (TCP), such as the rules of prescription compatibility, has become a practicalsignificance question which needs us to solute.TCP has the features of properties, flavors and channel tropism, and they cannoteasily be quantified, making it difficult to study with computer technology. At present, thestudy on the rules of prescription compatibility is most limited to the count of prescription,while the advances in data mining of computer technology are small. In addition, becauseof less information and data, data visualization technology has not yet been used in TCPresearch. Data visualization technology can show the data in intuitive and graphical forms,which are easily found objective rules from.Firstly, this paper summarizes the characteristic and classification of datavisualization technology and studies domestic and overseas research on data visualizationat present, and adopts chernoff face, star graph and parallel coordinates to visualize theosteoarthritis prescription. Secondly, the paper mostly studies the clustering analysis onTCP efficacy using hierarchical algorithm and K-means algorithm, including the study onquantifying properties, flavors and channel tropism of TCP and their visual expression.Visual expression can give a deep impression to readers, and then it gives us a moreintuitive understanding of TCP. The paper uses data visualization technology to analyzethe characteristics of single TCP and to classify it by the efficacy. What’s more, the paperapplies the method to the study of osteoarthritis prescription compatibility. Then, thepaper compares and analyzes the results of experiments systematically.At last, the paper makes a summary of the research and puts forward the next workwith the development of the modernization of TCM.
