Level Of Carotid Intima-media Thickness In Patients With Anterior Circulation Transient Ischemic Attack

Objective: To detect the level of carotid wall intima-media thickness in the patientswith anterior circulation transient ischemic attack and explore the relationshipbetween intima-media thickness and transient ischemic attack.Methods: One hundred and twenty-six patients with anterior circulation TIA wereenrolled, according to ABCD2scoring, the patients were divided into low risk group,medium risk group and high risk group.And sixty cases without cerebrovascularinfarction were enrolled in control group. A11are explored by color doppler ultras-onography to be measured for carotid intima-media thickness. Their blood pressure，DM history,blood lipid1eve1,smoking history were recorded.Variations among thosefour groups were compared.Results: The ratio in anterior circulation TIA with carotid IMT thickening was higherthan in control group(p<0.05)．The carotid IMT level was (1.16±0.13)mm in highrisk group,(1.12±0.16)mm in medium risk group,(0.83±0.15)mm in low risk groupand (0.76±0.16)mm in control group.The carotid IMT level in anterior circulationTIA group was obviously higher than the control group(p<0.05). The carotid IMTwas positively related with the ABCD2scores level (p<0.05).Conclusion: The carotid IMT was thicker in patients with anterior circulation thanthose without cerebrovascular infarction. The carotid IMT was positively related withthe ABCD2scores level.The higher was the level of ABCD2scores,the thicker wasthe carotid IMT,which pretended the relationship between carotid IMT and theprognosis after TIA.
