Objective: To research the relation between transient ischemic attack(TIA) and carotid atherosclerosis, blood-lipid, fibrinogen. Methods: 57 cases of transient ischemic attack, among which 31 for male, 26 for femal, from45 to 72 years old, average 64.5 + 8.6; Control group is consisted of 50 people, among which 28 for male, 22 for femal, from 52 to 70 years old, average 61.8 + 8.9. Ultrasonography of the carotid artery was conducted on two groups, examination items includes intima-media thickness(IMT), degree of stenosis, the location of plaque, feature of plaque, and serum triglyeride, total cholesterol, and blood plasma fibrinogen were evaluated at the same time. Results: (1) The rates of lumina stenosis are 42.11 % , 24.56% ,21.05 % in TIA group divided by low grade, midst grade, heavy grade, while rates of lumina stenosis were 36.00% , 12.00%, 2.00% in control group, rates of midst grade stenosis and heavy stenosis in TIA group were higher than those of control group remarkably, P<0.05; (2) The plaque incidence of TIA was 80.67 %, which was higher than that of control group (22.00%) remarkably , P<0.01; The rate of malacoplakia in TIA group was 31.51%, which was higher than that of control (6.25%) remarkably, p<0.05. (3) The IMT (mm) , TG(mmol / L), Tch (mmol/L) and FIB (g/L) of TIA group were 1.36 +0.40, 1.665 + 0.824, 5.623 + 1.289, 3.892 + 0.898 respectively, which were higher than those of control group (0.72 + 0.45, 1.313 + 0.522, 4.086+1.125, 3.052 + 0.762 respectively) remarkably, P<0.01.Consulations:There is a significant correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and transient ischemic attack. And there is a correlation between blood-lipid, fibrinogen and artery atherosclerosis. Blood-lipid and fibrinogen are important risk fators of atherosclerosis and TIA.
