ObjectiveThe purpose of this paper is to study quality of life, family function andfamily construct in children with nephrotic syndrome, to explore the relationshipbetween family factors and the quality of life, also to find the risk factors aboutthe quality of life and family function, in order to give some support for familynursing and provide basis for self-care.MethodsThe study is cross-sectional, correlational designed. Convenient samplingwas adopted to recruit102children with nephrotic syndrome and their parents.The patients were asked to complete Quality of life scale for children andadolescents, meanwhile their parents were asked to complete the generalinformation questionnaire and Family assessment device. The applicationSPSS l3.0statistics Package was used for general descriptive analysis andstatistical inference (t-test, one-way ANOVA, q-test, Pearson correlation andmultiple linear regression analysis).Results1In social psychological function, physiological and psychological health,living environment, quality of life satisfaction and total quality of life,children withnephrotic syndrome were lower than healthy children(P<0.05); 2In living area, only-child or not, number of brothers and sisters, theduration of the disease, the frequency of hospitalization, whether long-termmedication, patient’s condition, parents’ age distribution, parents’ educationallevel, parents’ occupation, whether the parents’ job change, the monthly incomeof family, disease knowledge, drug knowledge and self nursing knowledge,there are differences (P<0.05) for quality of life among children with nephroticsyndrome;3In the duration of the disease, the frequency of hospitalization, patient’scondition, whether long-term medication, number of brothers and sisters, themonthly income of family, mother’s educational level, whether the parents’ jobchange, self nursing knowledge and drug knowledge, the quality of life wasaffected among children with nephrotic syndrome;4Family function score including total seven aspects was2.41, it was low;5In only-child or not, number of brothers and sisters, the duration of thedisease, the frequency of hospitalization, whether long-term medication,patient’s condition, parents’ educational level, parents’ occupation, whether theparents’ job change, the monthly income of family, disease knowledge, drugknowledge and self nursing knowledge, there are differences (P<0.05) for familyfunction among children with nephrotic syndrome;6In the age of children, suspension of schooling, number of brothers andsisters, Whether living with grandparents, the form of medical payment, themonthly income of family, father’s age distribution, drug knowledge and diseaseknowledge, family function was affected among children with nephroticsyndrome;7Between the quality of life scores and family function score, their was ahigh negative correlation in children with nephrotic syndrome, with the lowerquality of life, family function was worse. Conclusions1The quality of life and family function decline in children with nephroticsyndrome, because their correlations are significant;2In family structures and resources, there are influences between thequality of life and family function among children with nephrotic syndrome;3With the family as a whole, scientific and reasonable managementmeasures should be made, in order to control the disease effectively, improvethe quality of life and family function and get back to normal life.
