Objective:To investigate the value of VATS in treatment of Mediastinal Tumors by comparing the outcome of VATS and TH.Methods:Collection of the xinjiang medical university first affiliated hospital thoracic surgery in November2008to March2012after VATS of surgical treatment of mediastinal tumor,96cases of group A.Another choice before November2008line open thoracic surgical treatment of mediastinal tumor62cases as control group B clinical and follow-up data.Comparative data for the two groups of patients with incision length, operative time, blood loss during operation, postoperative chest drainage time, postoperative hospital stay, postoperative24h vas score, the postoperative complications, postoperative relapse and so on.Results:Both groups were successfully completed surgery, all cases were confirmed. Two groups of patients’ age, gender, composition ratio, tumor type, tumor size, tumor location index differences had no statistical significance. VATS group of thymic tumor resection in incision size (5.23±0.48) cm vs (15.52±3.46) cm, operative time (135.69±36.47) min vs (167.58±45.75) min, blood loss during operation (97.78±35.45) ml vs(145.37±45.23) ml, postoperative chest tube drainage time(2.56±0.89) d vs (3.98±1.12) d, postoperative hospitalization days(4.75±0.54) d vs (6.46±1.24) d, postoperative24h VAS score (2.9±0.6) vs (5.3±0.8),Hospitalization expense (1.58±0.56) vs (1.89±0.76) Lower than group TH, The comparisons of data of two groups that the statistical differences were significant (P<0.05).VATS group of4cases of postoperative complications, accounting for4.17%(4/96). TH group of6patients with postoperative complications, accounting for9.68%(12/62), group VATS is lower than group TH, the difference was statistically significant. Group VATS. Follow-up of upper limb movement disorders in group VATS in1case,8cases of group TH, group VATS than group TH difference was statistically significant. Conclusion:VATS for less than7cm diameter of mediastinal tumor resection in intraoperative and postoperative general evaluation is superior to the conventional thoracotomy. Postoperatively in patients with reduced postoperative hospital stay, improve the quality of life, reduce the hospitalization expenses and treatment of mediastinal tumor has great clinical value, for less than7cm in mediastinum tumor surgery is worthy of application.
