Objective:To investigate EGFL7expression of serum in osteosarcoma, osteochondroma and healthy people, and explore EGFL7expression whether can be used as serum markers of osteosarcoma.Method:From January2012to October2013, serum specimens were collected in22patients with osteosarcoma before chemotherapy,6patients with osteosarcoma after chemotherapy,22patients with osteochondroma, and30cases of healthy people from xiangya hospital, central south university. The EGFL7levels of serum were detected by ELISA.Results:The EGFL7level of serum was2426.89ng/ml in osteosarcoma patients before chemotherapy,2209.57ng/ml in osteochondroma,2290.01ng/ml in healthy people, respectively. The difference among osteosarcoma, osteochondroma, healthy people has no statistical significance (P=0.445, P>0.05). There was no difference in EGFL7level between osteosarcoma patients before (2342.78ng/ml) and after chemotherapy (1998.57ng/ml)(P=0.522,>0.05). No difference was noted in serum EGFL7levels in different gender, tumor stage, tumor location of osteosarcoma (P=0.367, P=0.115, P=0.280,P>0.05). Conclusion:EGFL7levels in serum in patients with osteosarcoma cannot be considered as a serum marker for osteosarcoma patients.
