ObjectiveTo compare the Objective Scatter Index and optical performance of intraocular lens using a double-Pass method and to evaluate the effect of Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy onocular wave-front aberrations、Objective Scatter Index and assess the vision quality objectively.Methods1.It was a retrospective case series study. Three different kinds of acrylic intraocular lenses were implanted into68eyes in cataract surgery, including hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens HQ201HEP28eyes; hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens ZA900320eyes; hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) AR40E IOL20eyes. Stray light on the retina and optical quality (MTF Cut off, SR)of the eyes at4mm pupil size was measured with double-Pass system. Difference among groups was evaluated by analysis of variance(ANOVA). Relationship between straylight parameters(OSI) and optical quality was evaluated by pearson correlation analysis.2.It was a prospective comparative study.Twenty-six eyes of25consecutive pseudoPhakic patients with symptomatic PCO, which impaired the visual acuity severly,who presented for Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy at our clinic, were included in this study. According to the different type, different laser parameter was chosen.Before ang after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy, using Slit-lamp digital camera and then the Adobe PhotograPh7.0software combined with MB-ruler to calculate the diameter of the opening size.The total coma, trefoil, sPherical aberrations were analyzed statistically using i-Trace visual function analyzer and Objective Scatter Index and optical quality (MTF Cut off, SR)of the entire optical path of26PseudoPhakic eyes of25patients before, and2weeks after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy were measured using OQAS double-pass system.The total coma, trefoil, spherical aberrations Objective Scatter Index and optical quality (MTF Cut off, SR) were analyzed statistically.We also measured changes in best corrected visual acuity.Results1.At4mm pupil size, there is a significant difference between the objective scatter index (OSI)、MTF Cut off、SR values of the HQ201HEP、ZA9003and AR40E grouP(P<0.05).Pairwise comParisions, there is a significant differences between the HQ201HEP and ZA9003group, the HQ201HEP and AR40E group(P<0.05). In HQ201HEP group, ZA9003group、AR40E group, there is a significant correlation between the OSI and MTF Cut off、SR(P<0.05).2.Significant improvement in visual acuity was observed after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy,mean visual acuity0.33to0.67.Before the procedure,the total Objective Scatter Index root mean-square (RMS) was12.369(SD3.802).Two weeks after the procedure, significant decreases in total coma, trefoil,Spherical aberrations and Objective Scatter Index were noted(P<0.05).Additionally, optical quality (MTF Cut off, SR) got significantly improved after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy(P<0.05).There is a significant correlation between the OSI and MTF Cut off、SR before and after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy(P<0.05).Conclusions1. At4mm pupil size,the straylight in hydrophilic acrylic IOLs is higher than in hydrophobic acrylic IOLs, hydrophobic acrylic IOLs shows better visual quality than hydrophilic acrylic IOLs.There is a significant negative correlation between the traylight parameters(OSI) and optical quality.2.After Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy,best corrected visual acuity got improved,caused significant decrease in total coma, spherical aberrations and retinal scatter light measured using i-Trace visual function analyzer and OQAS double-pass system, which can account for a better optical quality after the procedure.There is a significant negative correlation between the traylight parameters(OSI) and optical quality before and after Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy...
