Objective:This study was designed to investigate the communication skills needs,psychological needs, knowledge needs of nursing students with different levels ofeducation in early, middle and late period of clinical practice, and analyze theirdifferences in order to provide theoretical references for clinical nursing educators totake appropriate measures to meet nursing students’guidance demands based on theirspecific needs, be targeted to ensure and promote the practice of nursing students tocomplete tasks efficiently and improve the effectiveness of teaching.Methods:This research used nursing students’pressure assessment scale, nursing students’clinical communication skills assessment scale, nursing students’psychological needsas well as main knowledge guidance demands questionnaire made by the researchers toinvestigate178nursing students with different education background in early, middleand late periods in clinical practice in some hospital in Liaoning Province, and analyzedifferences among internship pressure, communication skills, psychological knowledgeguide needs of nursing students with different education background in differentperiods in clinical practice. Using SPSS17.0statistical package for data processing andanalysis, using descriptive analysis and variance analysis and so on to do statisticalprocessing.Results:1.The comparison of the pressure levels among nursing students with differenteducation background in the early, middle, late periods of clinical practice.Pressure levels of nursing students with different education backgrounds wasdifferent in early periods of internships(P <0.05), pressure levels of undergraduate nursing students and associate nursing students were higher than school nursingstudents; The difference of pressure level in middle period was not significant (P>0.05); pressure levels of nursing students with different education backgrounds wasdifferent in late periods of internships(P <0.05), pressure level of undergraduatenursing students was higher than associate nursing students’and school nursingstudents’pressure levels.The difference of undergraduate nursing students’pressure level in internships atthe beginning, middle and late periods was not significant (P>0.05). The difference ofassociate nursing students’pressure level in internships at the beginning, middle andlate periods was not significant (P>0.05). There was significant difference in schoolnursing students’pressure levels in internships at the beginning, middle and lateperiods (P <0.05), pressure in middle period of internships was slightly higher than thatof early and late period.2. The comparison of the communicating abilities among nursing students withdifferent education background in the early, middle, late periods of clinical practiceCommunicating abilities of nursing students with different educationbackgrounds was not statistically different in early periods of internships(P>0.05), Thedifference of communicating abilities of nursing students with different educationbackgrounds was significant in middle period (P<0.05), communicating abilities ofundergraduate nursing students were better than that of associate nursing students, andcommunicating abilities of associate nursing students were better than that of schoolnursing students; The difference of communicating abilities of nursing students withdifferent education backgrounds was significant in late period (P<0.05),communicating abilities of associate nursing students were better than that ofundergraduate nursing students and school nursing students.The difference of undergraduate nursing students’communicating abilities at thebeginning, middle and late periods of internships was significant (P<0.05),communicating abilities in middle period of internships were better than that of earlyand late period; The difference of associate nursing students’communicating abilities in internships at the beginning, middle and late periods were significant (P<0.05),communicating abilities in late period of internships were better than that of early andmiddle period; There was no significant difference in school nursing students’communicating abilities in internships at the beginning, middle and late periods (P>0.05).3.The comparison of psychological and knowledge guidance needs among nursingstudents with different education background in the early, middle, late periods ofclinical practiceThere was consistency in psychological and knowledge guidance needs amongnursing students with different education backgrounds at the same period; There wassome differences of guidance needs at different periods of internship.Conclusions and Recommendations:This study shows that specific guidance needs of nursing students withdifferent education background in early, middle and late periods of clinical practice aredifferent, there were moderate levels of stress in the course of clinical practice; nursingstudents’ clinical communication skills were overall satisfied, but participation andverify feelings still need to improve; Psychology, basic knowledge guiding needs ofnursing students with different education background in the same internship wereconsistent, there are similarities and differences between the different internshipguidance needs in different periods of internship.During the clinical teaching process, nursing teachers should guide nursingstudents to take effective measures to relieve stress, improve communication skills, toface and deal with the problem with a healthy attitude, explain the necessaryknowledge, to have more targeted guidance, management and meet the needs ofstudents.
