Objective: To evaluate self-awareness of the children with tic disorder (short for TD)and discuss the relevant factors influencing the self-awareness so as to providetheoretical basis for clinical psychological intervention and rational therapy. Methods: Selecting74children with TD as TD group, evaluating their self-awarenessby Piers-Harris Children’s Selfconcept Scale (PHCSS) and their twitch severity by YaleGlobal Tic Severity Scale (YGTSS). All their parents completed the same questionnaireincluding educational degree of them, family formation, nurture style and other familyfactors. Self-awareness and general conditions were compared between TD children byt-test and chi-square test.Self-awareness was further compared between TD children indifferent conditions such as gender, age, clinical types and twitch severity by t-test andone-way analysis of variance. Analyzing the relations between self-awareness andfactors as age, clinical course, twitch severity, and family factors in TD group by Pearsoncorrelation analysis. Discussing the factors influencing the self-awareness of childrenwith TD by multiple linear regression analysis.Results:○1The scores of children in TD group are significantly lower than nationalnorm on behavior, intelligence, performance at school, anxiety, gregarousness, happiness and satisfaction,self-awareness(P<0.05).○2The scores of the factorsabove of boys in TD group are lower than girls, especially behavior, intelligence, performance at school, gregariousness and self-awareness(P<0.05).○3There are nostatistically significant differernce among the different ages of children in TD group(P>0.05).○4Compare the different clinical type, there are no differences in TTD group,CTD group and TS group of behavior, intelligence, performance at school, anxiety, gregariousness, appearance and properties, self-awareness (P>0.05).○5The scores ofbehavior and self-conscious of children with moderate to severe tics are lower thanchildren with slight twitch(P>0.05).○6The scores of the factors above of children inTD and ADHD group are all significantly lower than that in TD group(P<0.05).○7Intelligence and performance at school, happiness and satisfaction,self-awareness totalscore of children with TD negatively correlate with clinical course. The behaviors ofchildren with TD positively correlate with educational degree of theirfathers.Intelligence and performance at school, gregariousness, and self-awareness totalscore positively correlate with education degree of their mothers.8The multiple linear regression analysis shows: the main factors that affect theself-awareness of children with TD are mothers’attitudes to adverse action and whethercombined with ADHD.Conclusion: The children with TD have problems with self-awareness reduce, and itrelates to gender, clinical course, educational degree of parents, combined withADHD,the education way of parents and so on. Besides, the main factors that affect aremothers’attitudes to adverse action and whether combined with ADHD.
