Objective To study the effect of opportunistic screening about colonoscopy on the detection rates of colorectal neoplasm.Methods There were32694patients who were randomly divided into the case group and the control group who visited gastroenterology clinic in our hospital from Jan.2012to Sep.2013. The case group was tested by opportunistic colonoscopy, while the control group with clinical pattern. The difference of two groups was contrasted by Chi-square.Results There were16298patients who come to the trial group, and1167patients who underwent the colonoscopy,the detection ratio of colorectal neoplasm was1.38%(225/16298).There were16396patients in the control group, and the control group contained855cases, the detection rate of colonoscopy was1.07%(176/16396). The detection rates of colorectal neoplasm of two groups were different (X2=6.209, P=0.014).Conclusion The detection rates of colorectal neoplasm by opportunistic screening about colonoscopy is higher than clinical pattern, and it can discover more colorectal neoplasm.
