Objective: This study was designed to delineate the expression and significance ofIGF-1R, CDK4andβ-tubulin Ⅲ in gastric cancer. To investigate the relationshipbetween their expressions and the clinicopathologic features. Methods The expressions of IGF-1R, CDK4andβ-tubulin Ⅲ proteins weredetected by immunohischemistry in50cases of gastric cancer tissues and matched partlyadjacent tissues. The levels of the expression were analyzed combined withclinicopathological parameters of the patients including gender, age, tumor diameter, site, differentiation, Borrmann type, infiltration depth, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage. Results In the gastric cancer and its partly adjacent tissues, the IGF-1R waspositive tested in27cases(54.00%) and5cases(22.73%) respectively whose differencereached statistical significance(P<0.05). the CDK4was positive in33cases(66.00%) and4cases(18.18%) respectively, and the difference had statistical significance(P<0.01).Moreover, theβ-tubulin Ⅲ was positive in31cases(62.00%) and9cases(40.91%)respectively, the statistical difference had not been found(P>0.05). In the poorlydifferentiated group and the middle-high differentiation group, the IGF-1R was positivein21cases(65.63%) and6cases(33.33%) respectively whose difference reachedstatistical significance (P<0.05). In the infiltration depth of T1group, T2group, T3groupand T4group, the IGF-1R was positive in2cases(22.22%),4cases(33.33%),17cases(73.91%) and4cases(66.67%) respectively whose difference reached statisticalsignificance(P<0.05). In the non lymph node metastasis group and the lymph nodemetastasis group, the IGF-1R was positive in4cases(22.22%) and23cases(71.88%)respectively whose difference reached statistical significance(P<0.01). In the TNM stageof I+II group and the the TNM stage of III+IV group, the IGF-1R was positive in8cases(36.36%) and19cases(67.86%) respectively whose difference reached statisticalsignificance(P<0.05). The expression of IGF-1R was not associated with patients’gender, age, tumor measure, site and Borrmann type(P>0.05). In the poorly differentiated group and the the middle-high differentiation group, the CDK4was positive in25cases(78.13%)and8cases(44.44%) respectively whose difference reached statistical significance(P<0.05). In the non lymph node metastasis group and the lymph node metastasis group, the CDK4was positive in8cases(44.44%) and25cases(78.13%) respectively whosedifference reached statistical significance(P<0.05). In the TNM stage of I+II group andthe the TNM stage of III+IV group, the CDK4was positive in11cases(50.00%) and22cases(78.57%) respectively whose difference reached statistical significance(P<0.05).The expression of CDK4was not associated with patients’ gender, age, tumor measure, site, Borrmann type and infiltration depth(P>0.05). In the poorly differentiated group andthe the middle-high differentiation group, the β-tubulin Ⅲ was positive in24cases(75.00%) and7cases(38.89%) respectively whose difference reached statisticalsignificance(P<0.05). The expression ofβ-tubulin Ⅲ was not associated with patients’gender, age, tumor measure, site, Borrmann type, infiltration depth, lymph nodemetastasis and TNM stage (P>0.05). The expression of IGF-1R was found to havepositive correlations with the expression of CDK4in gastric cancer by the Spearman ranktest(r=0.354,P <0.05). but the expression of IGF-1R was not related to the expressionof β-tubulin Ⅲ and the expression of CDK4was not related to the expression of β-tubulin Ⅲ.Conclusions:The observed overexpression of IGF-1R, CDK4in gastric cancershows great clinic value in evaluating the causing and development of gastric cancer. Overexpression of IGF-1R exsist in gastric cancer and show a good relation with tumordifferentiation, infiltrating depth, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage.Over expressionof CDK4exsist in gastric cancer and show a good relation with tumordifferentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM stage. Expression of β-tubulin Ⅲexsist in gastric cancer and show a good relation with tumor differentiation. In gastriccancer, IGF-1R and CDK4were positively correlated, both have a synergistic effect oneach other in the development of tumor.
