Objective To investigate the expression and biological significance of Her-2,p63andBRCA1in gastric carcinoma (GC) and explore their role in tumorigenesis anddevelopment of GC. Methods The expressions of Her-2,p63and BRCA1in gastriccarcinoma tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues were determined by tissuemicroarray and immunohischemistry(IHC).The relationship between their expressions andthe clinicopathologic parameters were also analyzed. Results The positive rate of Her-2,p63and BRCA1protein in gastric cancer tissues was16.24%,35.90%and19.66%,respectively, which was higher than that in matched adjacent normal tissues (P<0.01).The positive expression of Her-2was closely correlated to lymph node metastasisand TNM clinical stage(P〈0.05). The positive expression of p63was closely correlatedto the degree of differentiation, lymph node metastasis and TNM clinical stage(P〈0.05).The positive expression of BRCA1was closely correlated to TNM clinical stage(P〈0.05). Her-2expression was found to have positive correlations with p63and BRCA1expression in gastric cancer by the Spearman rank tes(tP<0.01,r=0.299;P<0.01,r=0.307),while the p63expression was also found to have positive correlations with BRCA1expression(P<0.01,r=0.302). Conclusions Her-2, p63and BRCA1may play animportant role in tumorigenesis and development of gastric cancer. The union examinationof these proteins may be helpful for the prognosis judgment of gastric cancer.
