The Study Of The Effects Of Suicidal Ideation In Depressed Patients

Objective:According to "stress---susceptibility" mode of suicide and The theory of psychological stress,the study aimed at investigating the effects of suicidal ideation in depressed patients,and then indicating the path to suicidal idetion.Method:115depressed patients participated in the study,they completed7inventories including Beck Depression Inventory、Adult Suicidal Ideation Qustionnaire、The Self-Esteem Scale、The Reasons for Living Inventory.Using SPSS17.0t-test, correlation analysis, regression analysis and One-way ANOVA to explore the effects of suicidal ideation in depressed patients and the mechanism of these effects.Results:(1)T-test shows that significant differences exist between different genders regard to suicidal ideation, the suicidal ideation of female depressed patients is significantly above male patients(p<0.01);One-way ANOVA shows that the suicidal idetion of16-29years group is significantly above the30-49years group(p<0.05) and group older than50years(p<0.05),there are no significant differences between30-49years group and group older than50years.(2)The influence factors of suicidal ideation indicates that depression,anxiety, stress have significant correlation with suicidal ideation positively(p<0.01),depression,anxiety, stress can predict suicidal ideation significantly(p<0.01).(3)Self-esteem has significant correlation with suicidal ideation negatively(p<0.01),low self-esteem can influence suicidal ideation through depression (p<0.01),self-esteem moderates depression and suicidal ideation(p<0.01);neuroticism and psychoticism have significant correlation with suicidal ideation positively(p<0.01),neuroticism can predict suicidal ideation significantly(p<0.01).(4)Negative coping style and positive coping style influence the factors of depression,anxiety, stress(p<0.01).(5)Survival and coping beliefs, responsibility to family, moral objections, child-related concerns and reasons for living had a significant correlations with suicidal ideation(p<0.01),reasons for living can predict suicidal ideation significantly(p<0.01),moral objections, child-related concerns can moderate depression and suicidal ideation(p<0.01).Conclusion:(1)The stress factors(depression,anxiety, stress) can predict suicidal ideation in depressed patients.(2)Susceptibility factors(low self-esteem,neuroticism) can predict suicidal ideation,low self-esteem can influence suicidal ideation through depression, low self-esteem can enhance the influence of depression to suicidal ideation.(3)Positive coping style can weaken the suicidal ideation through depression as mediating variable,negative coping style can enhance the suicidal ideation through depression as mediating variable.(4) Reasons for living affects suicidal ideation through weakening the correlation between depression and suicidal ideation.
