Objective: To explore the occurrence rate and associated factors of suicide ideation and suicide behavior in rural medical workers for purpose of guiding suicide intervention.Methods: 89 medical workers were sampled randomly in Jinzhou district of Dalian to get involved in the study. A self-designed questionnaire, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI),Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Suicide Attitude Questionnaire(QSA), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS),Scale of Suicidal Ideation and Trait Coping Style Questionnaire were used. Data were analyzed with t-test and X~2-test and ANOV and Logistic analysis by SPSS10.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Science) on computer.Results: The analysis yielded the following findings: The occurrence rate of suicidal ideation in medical workers was 9.5%. There is no statistical difference in occupations, abnormal behaviors, QSA and negative coping style, while there are obviously statistical differences in age, length of service , marriage situation, depression, positive coping style and PSSS among medical workers. Multiple logistic regression results: age, length of service and family support system were the protective factors to suicide ideation.Conclusion: Suicide ideation is not rare in medical workers. Early identification and positive intervention are nessary.
