Objective1.To describe the characteristics of head-nurses’ emotional intelligence, careeraspiration, and their transformational leadership.2. To investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence, careeraspiration, and their transformational leadership.MethodsThe research contains two major aspects: instruments revision andcross-sectional survey, respectively. Details are as follows:The first aspect: Through a lot of literature review, We selected and introducedLeadership Practice Inventory: Self Instrument (LPI-Self) and Career AspirationScale (CAS) into China. On the basis of translation, back-translation, and cultureadaption, to test the reliability and validity of the scales strictly, we employed contentvalidity of the scale(S-CVI)、Cronbach’s a、test-retest reliability to ensure theexcellent reliability and validity of the Chinese version scales. The second aspect:. Firstly we identified research variables and measuringinstruments after the process of literatures review and experts consultation. Secondly, by Convenience sampling, a total of791head-nurses from different grade hospitalsacross Henan province were recruited in the research. Using methods ofIndependent-Samples T test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlationanalysis, multivariate linear regression analysis to investigate the relationshipbetween head-nurses’ emotional intelligence, career aspiration, and transformationalleadership.Results1.Revision and psychometric test of Chinese version-Leadership PracticeInventory: Self Instrument (LPI-Self): Chinese-version. LPI-Self comprises30items,5subscales (modeling the way, inspiring a shared vision, challenging the process, enabling others to act, encouraging the heart). Cronbach’s α for the five scales were0.766、0.747、0.747、0.775、0.765respectively. The test-retest reliabilities were0.933,the S-CVI was0.90, indicating excellent reliability and validity of Chinese-versionLPI-Self.2.Revision and psychometric test of Chinese version-career aspiration scale:Chinese-version career aspiration scale comprises8items,2subscales (leadershipand achievement aspiration, education aspirations). Cronbach’s α for the8items weregreater than0.70. The test-retest reliability was0.947, the S-CVI value was1.000,indicating excellent reliability and validity of Chinese-version career aspiration scale.3.Enrolling in a formal education program、experience in career as a headnurse、highest education qualification has obvious differences on the variable oftransformational leadership.4.Age、experience in career as a nurse、experience in career as a head nurse hasobvious differences on the variable of emotional intelligence.5.Enrolling in a formal education program、highest education qualification、experience in career as a nurse has obvious differences on the variable of careeraspiration.6. Dimensions in emotional intelligence have a significant and positivecorrelation with dimensions in transformational leadership. 7.About correlations between dimensions in career aspiration and dimensions intransformational leadership, leadership aspiration has significant and positivecorrelation with encouraging the heart.8.The dimensions of emotional intelligence, including use of emotion、other’semotional appraisal、 regulation of emotion can be used as the predictor oftransformational leadership9.Leadership aspiration can be used as the predictor of transformationalleadership.ConclusionsHead-nurse’s emotional intelligence and Career aspiration have positivecorrelation with transformational leadership, and they can be used as the predictor oftransformational leadership...
