ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to maintain the remission of inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients and improve their quality of life andthe psychological states.Methods33IBD patients are enrolled in this study. They are treated with TCM characterized chronic disease management for3months. Patients’s quality of life are assessed with SF-36scale and their psychological states are assessed with the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) before and after the chronic disease management. For24Crohn’s disease (CD) patients, which is among33IBD patients, are assessed with Crohn’s disease activity indexbefore and after the chronic disease management.Results1. After the chronic disease management, the simple CDAI score of Crohn’s disease patients is lower than before. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05)2. After the chronic disease management, the SAS score of IBD patients is lower than before. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05).3. After the chronic disease management, the SDS score of IBD patients is lower than before. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05)4. After the chronic disease management, the SF36score of IBD patients is higher than before. The difference is statistically significant (P<0.05) Conelus i onTCM characterized chronic disease management is effective in maintaining remission for Crohn’s disease, and it can improve quality of life and reduce emotions of anxiety and depression in inflammatory bowel disease patients.
