Clinical Observation Of Kangai Reducing The Chemotherapy Side Effect Of The Gerontal Colorectal Cancer Patients With Deficiency Of Pi Qi Postoperative

ObjectiveRadical operation and adjuvant chemotherapy have been accepted as the criterion for the advanced colorectal cancer. There is no doubt that to add up adjuvant chemotherapy for advanced colorectal cancer patients. While some people are worried about the result, especially for the old, because of the side effect. Traditional Chinese Medicine has been used to reduce the side effect of chemotherapy for long. It is similar like the Qi reducing when under chemotherapy. Kangai which is a Chinese patent medicine can strengthen the body resistance. In theory, it can reduce adverse reaction and demonstrated in clinical experience. The aim of this study was to investigate if the Kangai can reduce chemotherapy side effect of the old patient defined as Piqi depletion after colorectal radical operation.Methods57cases which fit the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided into blank group and Kangai group. Both group received the same chemotherapy(XELOX). Kangai will be added in the Kangai group while the blank group will just use the glucose liquid. Data include blood, QLQ-C30, KPS, toxic and side effect classification will be recorded before and after the test. At last we will use the spss17.0system to analyse the data and summarize the conclusion.ResultsThe average age of these cases was69.03+5.22years old. Kangai group and the blank group was no difference base on the independent sample t test before this study, it had a significance difference in the data include WBC, HB, KPS, QLQ-C30after the therapy, while the PLT was no difference between Kangai group and blank group.In order to proving the curative effect of the Kangai, pair T test was added. It was confirmed that WBC, HB, KPS went up and the QLQ-C30was improved in the Kangai group, while the WBC, HB, KPS, QLQ-C30was worsen in the blank group. The PLT was no difference in all objects.The symptoms include bone marrow depression, gastrointestinal adverse reactions, adverse reactions of nervous system, hand foot syndrome between the kangai and the blank group were under chi-square test.It provided that the kangai had an advantage in improving bone marrow depression and adverse reactions of nervous system. At the same time, it seemed no different curative effect in hand foot syndrome and gastrointestinal adverse reactions between both group.ConelusionKangai can promote the WBC, HB and reduce the myelosuppression, digestive system, nervous system adverse reaction of the old patient defined as Piqi depletion after colorectal radical operation. What is more, it can improve the patient quality of life subjectivily.
