Assessing The Treatment Effects Of Occlusal Intervention Of Temporomandibular Disorder With Impacted Tooth

ObjectiveTo observe whether use3months single splint could help relieve the symptoms of temporomandibular disorder (TMD) in patients with impacted tooth.MethodsTo conform to the inclusion criteria of30cases of18to23years old TMD patients with impacted teeth, the same physician to evaluate them temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function with Fricton TMJ disorders index and record all data in detail,afterwards,calculate the DI,PI and CMI.Make and put into2mm splint for patients.The physicians to evaluate patients with TMJ function in the same way after three months. Record datas of the after treatment, and calculate the DI,PI and CMI. All data were processed by SPSS16.0.ResultsThirty subjects with impacted tooth and symptoms of TMD were treated with splint about3mouths. All data were processed by SPSS16.0,The craniomandibular index (CMI) which were recorded and compared before and after therapy, and we found the CMI was significantly decreased (P<0.001) after the treatment in30subjects. It was used to assess the clinical improvement after accepting a treatment of splint. what is more,we found the impacted tooth is a underlying causes of TMD.ConclusionsThe treatment of splint could help relieve the symptoms of TMD in patients with impacted tooth, Especially those with18to23years old.The treatment of splint have few disadvantages for patients,above, The treatment of splint is an effective method for TMD patients.
