| Temporomandibular joint disorder(TMD)is one of the most common diseases in oral and maxillofacial region.5 patients with TMD symptoms who sought orthodontic treatment were recorded.All of them were treated with splint and its clinical effects were observed in order to prepare for the follow-up orthodontic treatment.Therefore,in the process of orthodontic sequential treatment for TMD,splint should be used first.Many studies have shown that occlusal splint therapy can effectively alleviate the symptoms of patients with TMD,while helping the condyle to be located in the centric relation position.Hydrostatic occlusal splint is a kind of splint to relieve acute pain and assist diagnosis,but it is not much studied and used in China.Stabilization splint is one of the most widely used splint and its effect has been confirmed by many researches.Anterior repositioning splint can change the position of mandible.This paper also summarizes the research on those splints in recent years. |
