Objective:To investigate the prevalence of chronic diseases among residents inJing’an County, Jiangxi Provice, then master the risk factors that associated with thecommunitity residents and analysis the related risk factors of chronic diseases.Consequently, privide a suitable integrated prevention and control strategies andprovide a scientific basis for evaluating the prevention and control of chronicdiseases. Methods:From July to September2012,2868above18age permanent residentsfrom Jing’an County were randomly selected as respondents with stratified clustersampling method.Doument analysis and self-made questionnaire were used to collectdemographic data, prevalence of chronic diseases and related risk factors.Univariateanalysis such as chi-square test or two independent samples T-test and non-conditional logistic regression were used to analysis the revenant factors. Results:Among the2868residents,627cases had chronic diseases, the chronicdiseases prevalence rate was21.86%, and standardized prevalence rate was23.08%.The prevalence rate of chronic diseases among different communities’ residents haddistiction (χ2=52.216, P=0.000). The prevalence rate of chronic diseases amongdifferent gender had no distiction (χ2=1.374, P=0.246). The prevalence rate ofchronic diseases among different age had distinction (χ2=92.645, P=0.000).According to univariate analysis results, low level of education (χ2=78.192,P=0.000),different marital status (χ2=27.471, P=0.000), different medical protection(χ2=48.140, P=0.000), low monthly income (χ2=26.715, P=0.000), family history ofhypertension (χ2=57.396, P=0.000), family history of diabetes mellitus (χ2=30.349,P=0.000), family history of coronary disease (χ2=46.609, P=0.000), family history ofstroke (χ2=37.327, P=0.000), family history of obesity (χ2=16.049, P=0.000), familyhistory of cancer (χ2=8.926, P=0.012) were the important affecting factors amongdemographic characteristic factors. Among behavior and life style factors, we findthat the indepent influencing factors of chronic diseases include lack of physical activity (χ2=5.261, P=0.022), irregular meals (χ2=13.282, P=0.000), lake offrequency of physical examination (χ2=36.390, P=0.000), lack of dairy productsacceptable daily instake (χ2=8.175, P=0.043) and lack of sleep (χ2=2.935, P=0.003).In the physiological indicators, chronic diseases were correlated to the high fastingblood-glucose (χ2=37.442, P=0.000), high body mass index (χ2=13.975, P=0.003),exception systolic pressure (χ2=253.518, P=0.000), exception diastolic pressures(χ2=167.494, P=0.000), a women of large girth (χ2=11.598, P=0.001), height(χ2=1.392, P=0.164).Binary logistic stepwise regression analysis suggested that low monthly income, lack of sleep, lack of physical activity (less than six thousand steps per day), irregularmeals, family history of hypertension, family history of diabetes mellitus, familyhistory of coronary diseases, rural area, older, low level of education, unmarried andmarried or cohabiting were the risk factors of chronic diseases (P<0.05). Withoutconsidering the case of co-factors, the femininie, less variable of vegetables, highbody mass index, unknown the rate of food label awareness were the risk factors ofhypertension (P<0.05). High body mass index was the risk factor of diabetes mellitus. Conclusion:Chronic diseases were a major health problem affecting the Jing’ancounty’s residents. Hypertension, diabetes mellitus were the major chronic diseases. The chronic diseases prevalence of Jing’an County were21.86%, and standardizedprevalence were23.08%. Rural area, older, low level of education, unmarried andmarried or cohabiting, family history of hypertension, family history of diabetesmellitus, family history of coronary diseases, low monthly income, lack of sleep, lackof physical activity and irregular meals were the risk factors of chronic diseases. Weshould raise the residents’ awareness of preventing and controlling chronic diseasesby taking some measures such as enhanced the environment, a reasonable diet, regular exercise, early screening and so on in order to improve the daily lifestyle andbehavior of community residents, controlling middle risk factors like hypertension, overweight and obese to control the development of chronic diseases.
