BackgroundAir is an important medium for the spread of pathogenic microorganisms, and airdisinfection is an effective way to cut microbial route of transmission, controling epidemicsand protecting human health. With social progress and the improving of living standards forpublic, the demanding on ambient air quality of people become increasingly highly. Inaddition, indoor air quality has absorbed more and more attention. To find a disinfectant thatcan kill bacteria in air without toxic side effects on human body. Based on the theory that“Fangxiangpihui,Qingrejiedu” for febrile disease in Chinese medicine treatment and the“truncated therapy”, we chosed some good bacteriostasis effect Chinese herbal medicinewhich had been confirmed by modern pharmacology to form prescriptions and developed anew Chinese air disinfectant—LANHUA air disinfectant.ObjectiveThe present study aimed to observe the air disinfection effectiveness and security ofLANHUA air disinfectant. And to confirm that LANHUA air disinfectant is a new andeffective air disinfectant of pure traditional Chinese medicine, promoting the development ofChinese herbal medicine in the field of air disinfection. In this study, the effectiveness ofLANHUA air disinfectant was observed by using the air disinfection experiment. And clinicalsafety of LANHUA air disinfectant was explored by using the acute toxicity test.Methods1. Air disinfection experiment: We investigated the different bacteriostasis ability ofLANHUA air disinfectant with different disinfection style such as aspersion, fumigation and pulverization. Meanwhile, To determine the effectiveness and differents of the three kinds ofair disinfectants including LANHUA air disinfectant,2%peracetic acid and LVCAOtraditional Chinese medicine air disinfectant we measured the total number of bacterialcolonies before and after air disinfection with LANHUA air disinfectant,2%peracetic acidand LVCAO traditional Chinese medicine air disinfectant. To determine effectiveness ofLANHUA air disinfectant in the normal persons flow, we investigated the bacteriostasisability of LANHUA air disinfectant in the present of people. In addition, we also comparedthe bacteriostasis ability and its persistence of LANHUA air disinfectant under low, mediumand high dose in indoor air.2. Acute toxicity tests: By the acute oral toxicity test and the acute inhalation toxicity testin mice to judge the toxicity of LANHUA air disinfectant. By the Rabbit skin irritation test todetermine the skin irritation of LANHUA air disinfectant. By The rabbit eye irritation test todetermine the eye irritation of LANHUA air disinfectant.Results1. An air disinfection experiment: By comparing LANHUA air disinfectant use aspersion,fumigation and pulverization three kinds of methods of air disinfection effect, the resultsuggesting that air disinfection of LANHUA air disinfectant use aspersion is invalid, usingfumigation and pulverization is exact and pulverization is more effective than fumigation.LANHUA air disinfectant and2%peracetic acid is better than LVCAO traditional Chinesemedicine air disinfectant. Moreover, the effectiveness of LANHUA air disinfectant in thepresence of people is exact. The low medium high doses of LANHUA air disinfectant hasdefinite air disinfection, no significant difference between three dose of air disinfection. Andfurther informed that LANHUA air disinfectant30min after beginning to play the role ofdisinfection and disinfection effect can be maintained for3h.2. Acute toxicity tests: The acute oral toxicity test and the acute inhalation toxicity test inmice shows that LANHUA air disinfectant effective with non-toxic. The rabbit skin irritation test we can determine that LANHUA air disinfectant has non-irritating to rabbit skin. Therabbit eye acute irritation test we can determine that LANHUA air disinfectant hasnon-irritating to rabbit eyes.ConclusionOur experimental results show that LANHUA air disinfectant has reliability airdisinfection effectiveness and extremely small irritant and no acute toxic effects. LANHUAair disinfectant is safe and reliable, and suitable for the air disinfection in the present ofpeople.
