Nowadays. Lameness is a frequent disorder in dairy cows. It not only affects the normal physiological activities of dairy cows, makes the elimination rate increased, leads to greater economic losses, but also manual lameness detection is a time-consuming task. Based on the analysis of the measurement method of lameness in dairy cows and combined with previous research results, proposing to use the Walkway System (trail plantar pressure measurement system) to measure the plantar pressure data, start with human as subjects, built the plantar pressure distribution measurement system, achieving the lameness judgment.According to the pressure measurement system we designed the scheme, the sensors are selected reasonably, the sensor is a kind of flexible film network tactile pressure sensor based on matrix. The design and installation of pressure sensor system and data acquisition system are completed. According to the design scheme of the trigger circuit, choice the reasonable trigger mode of the system. At the same time, adjusted the assembly of hardware and software, studied and analyzed the system software:The plantar pressure signal collected by the system in the PC and displays the pressures as 2-D or 3-D in real-time and can be derived from the pressure related curves and gait data.Using the software to debug the system, through setting the threshold range of the trigger pressure, realize the system self start recording function. Simultaneously, the data acquisition parameters of the system are set reasonably, calibrate sensor and analyse the calibration curve. So make the pressure measurement system collecting the accurate plantar pressure data in an optimal way.Appling the measurement system to study the plantar pressure, validate and analyse the characteristic of the system. The experiment results show that by the measurement, system 2-D or 3-D map can judge lameness. At the same time, the system can analyze the plantar pressure data by extracting plantar force and pressure curves and related data of the gait to determine lameness or not and the degree of lameness, and extract the characteristic parameters to judge the lameness. Experiments show that the system has stable performance. high precision and simple operation. The experimental results are in agreement with the practical results, the facts proved that the system can judge lameness, laid the foundation for later study of digital identification of early lameness in dairy cows.
