| In recent years, China’s major colleges and universities made a useful exploration in the construction of the campus landscape according to their geographical and operating characteristics. But for various reasons, there are currently many deficiencies in the design process of campus landscape, such as lack of their own characteristics, and inadequately reasonable planning, etc. Vocational education is an important part of higher education, and is vital to training highly qualified technical personnel, In this paper, Yueyang Vocational Technical Institute is taken as a research object for the survey and statistical study of plant species, seasonal changes, plant communities in different functional areas. For the students’ psychological needs and behavioral characteristics, using theoretical knowledge including landscape ecology, environmental psychology, garden art, and plant landscaping, materials including document literature and field investigation data are sorted out. Combined with personal experience, a detailed analysis of landscape design of Yueyang Vocational Technical College is conducted in different levels and dimensions, exploring the theoretical basis and design scheme for the campus landscape optimization of Yueyang Vocational Technical College. The main findings are as follows:1, According to the survey of the status of landscape of Yueyang Vocational Technical College, there exist drawbacks mainly in the following aspects:(1) not enough funding for construction, lack of overall greening plan, and pursuit of quantity instead of quality in early campus landscape. (2) unscientific allocation of plants, and not abundant plant community landscape level. (3) Featureless allocation of plants, and unconspicuous seasonal change, causing lack of artistic appeal.2, For the current situation of Yueyang Vocational Technical College campus landscape construction, reconstruction design ideas for improving campus landscape quality are proposed:(1) enrich plant community structure, focus on ecological habits, highlight scientific plant allocation, and create plant community landscape with a wealth of changes. Replace the crape myrtle at the entrance gate of Yueyang Vocational Technical College by a plant community of ginkgo, osmanthus, cycas and zephyr lily. (2) Combining the characteristics of vocational education, and highlighting the campus culture, make reasonable choices of plant species according to the plant’s shape, color, meaning, and other characteristics, so as to enhance artistic influence of campus plant landscape, and to create a positive campus spirit environment. Transform the meadow in the center of teaching area into Dream Park. Exhibit the glorious image of the pioneers of vocational education centrally, with the nine bronze statues of the wise in vocational education of all ages as the main part, and with the flowers and gardens as the background. (3) Based on campus culture, in order to further arouse in the students their feelings for the school, rebuild the Chunhui Garden and build aChunhui Pavilion with How can the little filial affection of a son reciprocate the grate love from his mother as the theme.Based on the regional characteristics, educational philosophy, and development goals of Yueyang Vocational Technical College, analysis is made from six major activity points, which are the main entrance, office administrative area, teaching area, living area, sports area, and training bases, and improvement plans for the existent problems are proposed. The plans can provide certain reference for Yueyang Vocational Technical College to beautify the campus environment, create a good image of the school, and enhance the reputation of the school. |
