Sulfur is one of the most important elements of biological growth and development. It is an essential element consisting of amino acid and enzyme. In modern animal husbandry, sulfur was often added in diets to increase the quality and quanity of products. The purpose of this paper studied research the growth performance and biochemical indexes of layer by adding 0.1% mineral sulfur added in feeding diet. Morever, we researched whether the pathological changes will occur under 0.1% mineral sulfur treatment by analyzing the experimental data. Final to provided the scientific theoretical basis for the use of adding the mineral sulfur in poultry diets. This experiment used 18-week of same development, healthy, body weight and egg laying rate consistenting of 48 layer. Randomly divided into four groups, the two groups were the control group, the other two were the treatment group. The control group was fed with basic diet, the treatment group fed with basic diet with 0.1% mineral sulfur. The data showed: the growth index, final weight and feed efficiency of treatment group and control group had significant difference, while the average daily gain, average feed intake and total feeding amount of each group had no significant difference.By measuring the production index, the result showed that the soft broken egg rate of experimental group and control group have significant difference, the laying rate, egg material ratio, egg-shaped index, eggshell thickness, eggshell strength, hartz units, and the average egg weight have no significant difference. The amino acid content of the egg in the treatment group and control group was almost same, no significant differences. However, glutamic acid, lysine, histidine and cysteine content were significant differences in treatment group higher than control group. This study selected the glutathione, total antioxidant capacity, catalase, malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase(sod) to determine its antioxidant capacity in serum. We found that at the end of period the glutathione levels of treatment group are significantly higher than control group, and the other indicators had no significant difference. By detecting the content of total protein, albumin, triglyceride, cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(hdl-c) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(ldl-c) to study the capacity of protein metabolism and lipid metabolism. Finally we found the serum triglyceride levels of treatment group was significantly lower than control group, and other indicators had no significant difference. To study the effect on the liver and kidney of 0.1% mineral sulfur adding in feeding diet, we detected urea nitrogen, creatinine, alkaline phosphatase, aspertate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase, respectively. During the whole experiment, serum urea nitrogen, creatinine, aspertate aminotransferase, cereal third transaminase activity had no significant changes, the treatment group and control group had no significant differences in corresponding experimental data. Thus concluded that adding 0.1% of mineral sulfur in the diet can increase growth ability to a certain extent of layer and the content of part of amino acids in the eggs, reduced the egg production of soft, broken egg rate. Further more, the body’s antioxidant capacity was enhanced, the content of serum triglyceride was reduced and won’t cause damage to the liver and kidney function.
