To explore cultivation techniques of spring bamboo shoots in phyllostachyspubescens forest to gain a high yield and high efficiency in winter, field plot experiments had been carried out in November for five years continuously to take advantage of rice chaffs, straws, ashes, and organic fertilizer to influence the shooting time and yields. Culturing under covers could bring the shooting period forward for50 to 80 days or so than shooting of natural cultivation, and the peak time was brought forward for about 3- to 40 days; the spring bamboo shoots yields in wintertime per mu could reach 1500 to 3000 kg, with an output value of 30,000 to 50,000 RMB, and a net revenue of 10,000 to 30,000 yuan, of which the economic benefits had been improved by more than 10 times than the uncovered bamboo shoot forest. Except for the spring bamboo shoots, there were considerable winter bamboo shoots and rhizome shoots with high quality. The cultivation technique for gaining a high yield and high efficiency emerged as the time required, and it was anemerging cultivation technique, using the successful experience of this club by covering phyllostachy praecox stand in winter to make them shooting earlier as reference. However, there were differences between phyllostachyspubescen and phyllostachys praecox in growth law, physiological properties, and growing environment, thus the covering techniques were not the same, andphyllostachyspubescenshoots had a higher requirement for site condition and techniques. Therefore,a technical research and demonstration base for producing phyllostachyspubescen shoots with high yields and high efficiency had been established in Bai Liang Qiao Town of Yinzhou District of Ningbo City in Zhejiang Province, aiming at improving yields and quality of moso bamboo shoots by covering to raise its price to benefit more peasants.
