With the rapid development of breeding industry in china, standardized scalebreeding will become the development tendency in the future. At the same time, theshortage of feed ingredients is one of the main factors that restrict the standardized scalebreeding. To effectively solve the problem of the shortage of feed ingredients, developingunconventional feed in a reasonable and scientific way is needed. Through the evaluationof the nutritional value of unconventional feed, using unconventional feed to replace partof the conventional feed, can effectively reduce the cost of feeding farm. The study wasaimed at making a evaluation on nutritional value of four kinds of unconventionalfeed, from two aspects, nutrient content and utilization.Experiment1:the determination of nutrient content in unconventional feed for rabbits. The nutrient content containing crude protein (CP),dry matter (DM),crude ash (Ash),crudefiber (CF),acid detergent fiber (ADF),crude fat (EE),acid detergent lignin (ADL),neutraldetergent fiber (NDF),calcium (Ca),phosphorus (P) and nitrogen free extract (NFE) weredetermined by the feed proximate anlysis and Van Soest fiber analysis. The gross energy(GE) of the unconventional feed was measured by oxygen bomb calorimeter.Through theexperiment obtained the nutrient content of the four kinds of unconventional feed,Theinitial assessment results showed the order of the four kinds of unconventional feedaccording to the content of CP was sugar residue, stevia, reed grass, oat hulls. Whileaccording to the content of CF, the order wasreed grass, oat hulls, stevia, sugar residue. Itwas to be sugar residue, stevia, reed grass, oat hulls according to the content of EE,whileaccording to the content of GE,the order was sugar residue, stevia, oat hulls, reed grass.Experiment2:the determination of nutrient digestibility in unconventional feed forrabbits. The result showed that the digestible energy in order from the high to the low wassugar residue8.72MJ/Kg,stevia6.37MJ/Kg,oat hulls5.96MJ/Kg,reed grass5.43MJ/Kg;Thevariation range of nutrients digestibility was GE35%~48%,DM51%~77%,Ash25%~34%,Ca26%~60%,P19%~33%,EE65%~80%,CP44%~64%,CF23%~29%,NDF34%~53%,ADF19%-26%,NFE50%~86%. It was concluded that the apparent digestibility of EE,CP and DMin the unconventional feed for growing rabbits were higher, while apparent digestibility ofCF was lower and ADL was hardly to be digested by growing rabbits.
