The planting model of peppers had been large-scale, the mechanization had been a tendency toharvest the peppers, the application of pepper harvester not only improved the harvesting efficiency, butalso led to a number of leaves、stalks which were mixed into the peppers, the trash content was highbecause of the lack of special cleaning and separating device. To solve the problem, a kind of cleaning andseparating devices was designed in4LZ-3.0Self-Propelled Pepper Harvester by Mechanical and ElectricalEngineering College, Shihezi University. This device not only cleaned the little impurities such as theleaves by the airflow, but also separated the stalks by the star axles. But some problems appeared whentested, the cleaning and separating result was poor, the trash content was high, the performance wasunstable. This paper carried out the following works to find out the cleaning and separating mechanism soas to improve its cleaning and separating results.I selected the line peppers as the objects to analyze the material features such as the line pepper’smoisture contentlength、diam and quality, the pepper stalk’s length and diam, the leaf’s quality and area.On the basis of the analysis about the test result of primary device, this paper brought about theproject to optimize the device, designed the tester.I built up the model of the suspension speed of the line pepper and leaf by analyzing the forces. At last,the range of airflow was determined on the basis of the relationship between the suspension speed and theairflow which was4-6m/s.This paper applied RSM to conduct the tests, the quadratic regression model on cleaning rate wasbuilt through the monofactorial test and the Box-Behnken test. On the basis of analysis on the model, theparameters combination are that when the distance of star disc was90mm, the speed of star disc was108.7r/min, the slant angle of star axle is2°, the cleaning rate will be89.58%.The prioritization was reliable, the target was achieved, found out the cleaning and separatingmechanism, enhanced the device’s cleaning and separating result, proving theoretical basis for the otherrelated machines.
