Analysis And Treatment Of 42 Cases Canine Pyometra

Main primary etiology of canine pyometra is that canine endometritis and cystic endometrium hyperplasia and in the interaction of a number of other factors caused. Studies have shown that most of the canine pyometra are involved in bacterial infection, and main pathogenic bacterial is Escherichia coli. Canine pyometra is also related with the characteristics of the female hormone, so its pyometra is affected by hormones, for example, whether estrogen and progesterone is secreted and how much they are secreted can affect the incidence of pyometra. At the same time, the difference of ages, breeds and dogs living environment and diets, the incidence of pyometra is not exactly the same, and pyometra can occur at any age of the sexual maturity. In recent years, pyometra disease was extensive distribution in China, there is a wide variety of diseases in dogs, according to statistics showed that the incidence rate of pyometra is rising year by year, and it can threaten the life of the dog.In this paper, I have collected, systemized and analyzed medical records related to pyometra nearly three years at Xi’an Happy Wag animal hospital, summarized the etiology of canine pyometra, analyzed canine pyometra the relationship between breeds, ages, diets, seasons and fertility.There were 42 cases of pyometra collected in the hospital, they showed that common clinical symptoms is depression, apocleisis, polydipsia and frequent urination. Purulent or bloody discharge of the vaginal is the special symptom of the open pyometra, while increase and prominent of abdominal girth is the main symptoms of closed pyometra. By blood routine and biochemical examination for those dogs infected pyometra, the result shown that WBC, Gran and ALP was significantly higher than the normal. Abdomen B ultrasound showed that uterine cross section appear visible single or multiple anechoic dark area of the liquid, X-ray showed that the uterus of the abdominal cavity was enlarged gray image. In 42 cases canine pyometra, 21 cases diagnosed by B ultrasound, 8 cases diagnosed by X-ray, 13 cases diagnosed by B ultrasound together with X-ray.These dogs that wish to retain fertility or have mild open pyometra can be treated conservatively. If conservative treatment is not ideal for closed cases, it can be taken surgery treatment. In 42 cases, 12 cases taked conservative treatment, accounting for 29% of the total number of pyometra cases, in which 1 case were cured, and the remaining 11 cases were relapsed after the next estrus. 30 cases taked surgery treatment, accounting for 71% of the total number of pyometra cases, in which 26 cases were cured, 4 cases were death. These results enrich the clinical information, and it is worth learning on the treatment and prevention of canine pyometra.
