As an important form of three-dimensional greening in cities, wall greening has uniquelandscape features and ecological benefits. With the development of greening technology, plantselection range expands greatly, whether the plant landscape of wall greening is good or bad hasan important influence to wall greening’s development. This paper took Shanghai, Hangzhou,Nanjing and Wuhan four cities’ new type of wall greening as the research object, through fieldresearch, summarized the development status of the four cities’ new type of wall greening.According to the results of the survey, this paper combined with the knowledge of landscapearchitecture, botany, aesthetics, ecology and other related fields, evaluated part of cases’ plantlandscape quality, put forward the important factors which affected the plant landscape anddiscussed the four cities’ new wall greening plant landscape characteristics and optimizationconstruction suggestions. The main research results are as follows:1. Through the investigation of74cases, This paper summarized new type of wallgreening’s plant species, forms of technology, cultivation, irrigation management and landscapeeffect of Shanghai the four cities, the results showed: using plants165species, related to59family and110genus,106species of herb, accounted for64.6%,59species of wood plantsaccounted for35.4%;11technology forms were used in total, including modular type, bag type,frame module type, mesh bag type, multilayer planting groove (bag) type, planting containertype, module+mesh type, paving type, board slot type, flower container adsorption type,hedgerow type, and modular type, bag type and frame module type were currently the mostcommon wall greening technology forms; there were3main types of cultivation media,including artificial media(contains peat, coconut husk, perlite etc), mixed media(mixed withartificial media and natural soil) and natural soil, the first two were mainly used; there were3types of irrigation system, including automatic drip irrigation, artificial irrigation and the mixedway of the former two, and automatic drip irrigation was used most; most cases’ landscapeeffect was good, but could not holds for long.2. Be based on garden aesthetics and other subjects, this study adopted scenic beautyestimation method to evaluate scenic beauty of50cases. The test revealed that the highest SBEcases were P10(Shanghai Shimen Road No.1plant wall group), P22(Nanjing Wanrong woodenhouse wall greening), P24(Shanghai Bund-Chen Yi square plant wall group). And throughdecomposing and quantitating elements which effected plant community landscape quality, thepaper established the plant landscape evaluation model of new wall greening as SBE=-2.526+0.2*plant species composition+0.269*species color richness+0.303*leaf color+0.328*the pro-portion of flowers and leaves+0.287*plant growth, and the sort of contribution of the fiveLandscape factor was the proportion of flowers and leaves>leaf color>plant growth>speciescolor richness>plant species composition.3. Combining the investigation and scenic beauty estimation results, referencing toreference material and learning foreign outstanding cases, this paper summarized thecharacteristics and shortcomings of the four cities’ new type of wall greening plant landscape,and based on these problems, put forward some suggestions to improve plant landscape.
