| Inspired by the unique plant landscape of vertical plane in nature, with the support of new technologies and new materials nowadays, a new technology of thin-layer & light-weight vertical greening—plant curtain wall was proposed. Plant curtain wall is different from traditional vertical greening with climbing plants. In order to be understood easily and be applied widely the concept of building curtain is borrowed.The plant curtain wall was defined and classified, and the basic structure of the plant curtain wall was investigated. On this basis, traditional vertical greening and building curtain wall were compared with it. The maintenance and management of the plant curtain wall were analyzed briefly. This paper analyzed the ecological benefits, social benefits, economic benefits and tourism benefits with the plant curtain wall, and focused on its unique advantage. The history and research status at home and abroad of greening wall were introduced.In allusion to interior plant curtain wall, the special environmental condition was analyzed. On this basis, requirements and criteria for plants selection of interior plant curtain wall were proposed which were combined with features of its system. According to practical application in specific situations, 20 species of evergreen herbaceous plants, 15 species of small shrubs and 10 species of ferns which were applied appropriately were introduced in detail, and 20 species bryophytes which were applied appropriately were recommended. In order to strengthen practical application and fesibility of operatation, combining with practical experience, the plants which were suitable for the interior plant curtain wall application were cited.Design principles for interior plant curtain wall were proposed, and its color design, plant shape design, and plant texture design were discussed. Combining with the design principles, the specific design for interior plant curtain wall of separate living space and public buildings were analyzed at last. |
